True Character Shows up

Utter nonsense-Patrick Peterson didn't work out. I bet LSU was really disappointed that he flipped to them.

I think it's messed up to question the character of a teenage kid trying to make a huge life

Didn't his dad mysteriously get a job all the sudden in LA? There was something going on there I remember. This kid just couldn't leave his "brother". Wasn't facilities, attendance, bagmen, etc. Not a good comparison. Just a case of homie sickness.

Staff should have pulled Williams' offer. Kid was obviously just saving himself a spot here. There was no other reason for him to commit and then visit Tenn a week later.

I think all the crying needs to stop. You want to be mad at somebody...be mad at the adults at UM for not putting forward an attractive enough product to land all the kids you want to get

i think byrd is what ****es people off. the way he left. its clear he was upset miami stopped recruiting fils-aime once richt took over. he then decided to throw alot of shade at miami, saying current players told him not to come to miami either bs or these kids need to figure out why are so loyal to golden,

truth is byrd decided to go to tenn when fils-aime commited there and miami stopped recruiting him. obviously richt wasn't gonna add a rb they didn't think was miami quality just to keep byrd and byrd went out like a ***** and made up all kinds of **** to stir things up.

Nobody was *****ing or questioning the character of Byrd when he dropped UF (his original commit) and switched to us. Nobody was questioning Williams character when he dropped USF for us.

Nobody was questioning the character of players we've had through the years make a switch on signing day th at favored us. We all celebrated the pick up and there weren't mangina posts like this one.

Byrd and Williams both went on a trip late to UT and made their decisions at some point between then and today. He let our staff know who knows when, it could've been a week ago as they can't comment on recruits. Mangina's though assume they left the staff hanging out at the fax machine waiting for their signatures and I'd bet that wasn't the case. Mangina on though.

Ok... Byrdshyt decommitted from UF and committed to us long before signing day. This was a premeditated set-up leaving us in a tenuous position the night before NSD.

We have been on both sides of NSD decisions. Richards chose us over Bama and Southall chose Texas over us. No one is fuming about those types of situations.

I cannot recall a situation where a program's highest targeted recruit was committed to someone else so openly and publicly and then just stiffed them at the 11th hour with no notice or courtesy of a decommitted. And yes, like the Volunqueers, I'd be happy to have a stud player come our way but I wouldn't think the way it was handled, if done the way this was done was fine, let alone defend his actions like these trolls on here and on their board have.

There are lots of assumptions in your post. You don't know when he informed the staff of anything.

As for not recalling, you should study our history a bit more and then get back to me. His visit rating of an 8 of 10 doesn't suggest that he was all that enamored when he left that weekend.

I think Coach Hartley's since-deleted initial reaction is indicative of the state of shock to our staff. I think if they had prior knowledge, we would have seen more visible efforts to pull in cornerbacks over the past month and Hartley wouldn't have tweeted that. We know that he had a relationship with Shaq Q and Shaq didn't know- that's per Shaq's Dad.

That he rated Miami's visit an 8/10 does not equate to a decommittment. Kids say lots of stuff and he had been on campus many times. Finally, I don't recall a recruit flipping to us at the last second under similar circumstances, and if they had, like I said, I'd be happy we got a stud player but I wouldn't approve of the way this was done, let alone defend it. The point is not that no one ever flipped to us, in general, but how it was done here and what the circumstances are pointing to.
