Don't care if we get Phillips. He has concussion issues and has to sit a year.

We can grab some local DE/LB in 2020.

Trevon Hill desperately wanted to be a Cane, and that boy can fvckin play. An absolute give no fvcks savage.

Other than Tate, this is our best pickup

I love this pickup as well as this galvanizes the DE spot and the DL in general. Hill is an intense competitor with a burning desire to win. Together with the addition of DT Chigozie, this puts us in excellent shape.

Regarding Phillips, I definitely still want him. Phillips situation is a bit different and he will most likely be forced to sit out the 2019 season leaving him with 2 years to play 2 if I'm correct. In my humble opinion, if Phillips passes a physical and our medical staff gives him the green light we absolutely must take him. That type of freakish talent and ability doesn't come along everyday. The kid is a no brainer at DE but with his elite athleticism and speed the staff could move him around the line and even line him up as a stand up rush LB. If Phillips checks out and wants to come you don't turn a talent like him down.

I love this pickup either way but I wonder if this hurts with Phillips. I believe he only played 4 games last year which would mean he would be eligible right away. I see Phillips as a DE in our system but I bet he would be athletic enough to play OLB and I’m sure Manny and Baker would find a way to get a freak athlete like that on the field regardless. Either way great pickup that’s now 7 transfers for transfer U. Our D line may not have any drop off with this kid, Garvin, Rousseau, Nesta ,the UCLA DT and Bethel coming back. Add in Harvey and maybe ford can take the next step and we’re stacked again

Phillips would have to sit out 2019 unless he gets a waiver. Redshirt rules =/= transfer rules. He's in the same situation as Tate

Manolo is setting us up. No way he's going to be good on gameday. I'm sure Enos is already implementing the wishbone attack.

So is this Bogle's scholarship?

Surely by now they know they're getting played by him?

Hill isn't in alot of the FSU highlights, but his presence is def felt.
On the Akers long run he's nearly staying with him stride for stride..

Why announce this now? Especially with signing day around the corner, counter productive imo but oh well

He’s taking 18 credits this semester to graduate which is pretty hard to do so we will see
Why do you think it's counterproductive? Hill is a one year guy and should not affect our recruiting efforts. Is it Bogle you are worried about? I wouldn't sweat that kid. Great talent and I want him to be a Cane but if adding Hill gets Bogle all twisted then oh well.

As far as the timing of the announcement, heck yeah we should announce it! No rational reason not to. We added a great player that most teams in the nation would have taken in a heartbeat. A player that could have gone anywhere yet wanted to come here to UM. That speaks volumes in itself about the atmosphere and culture Manny Diaz is creating here. It's great publicity that will pique the curiosity of kids around the country. They see all these studs coming to Miami and they are going to be curious about the program and what is being built here. Winners want to play with other winners. Kids all over the country are going to want to visit to see for themselves what all the buzz is about.

This is huge. Even moreso then Hills skill, is the fact that Manny went after a player that was kicked off a team. Our last 3 coaches would of stayed away because he doesnt fit there bull**** student athlete standards. The same way Manny brought back Jeff, he is showing that its about WINNING FOOTBALL GAMES. We have not had a coach that has had that as there primary objective in a LONG time. Give me a coach that is not only affraid of disgruntled players, but embrasses them. I want 85 Trevon Hills on the team. Passionate players that hate losing. This is Jimmy 2.0 fellas. I was Mannys biggest supporter. Been screaming for him to be the head coach months before. But I have to admit, I didnt even see all this coming. This guy impresses me more and more everyday.

Now once we get Phillips NCAA is going to put a stop to this lol. This isn’t what they had planned. But boom, another starter!
I suspect there is a lot of truth in that. Diaz is exploiting an opportunity that may be short-lived. Manny has a solid "A" so far.

IDK - I look at this portal as a type of "previously owned" lot. Players are in it to get picked up - we are doing our part and keeping the inventory moving. It's on us if we use our 25 allotted spots for these guys. I think other coaches WILL use this portal more next cycle though. Most of the top teams filled their rosters in December. It may not always happen that way even though it may be the preference. We got lucky with the high caliber of kids in the portal right now; it may not always be that way.
