So when do you propose firing a coach that recruits know won't be around for the long-term (or really in Manny's case, the short-term)?You're probably right, but how does firing Manny today change any of this? You're not hiring anyone until after the season. Kids are still going to decommit. So I really don't see the benefit other than making some public stance, which I'm not sure the folks in charge care much about making.

Depends on how you look at it, for recruits, it lets them know early on that there'll be a change. If Manny is held on, there's that glimmer of chance that he sticks around offseason; and that's what's really bad, because kids know his firing will be done eventually, so then they go with option B. I'm not surprising ***an decommitted, I'm surprised it took anyone this long to decommit.I don't think there's a "right" or easy way to do this. It's going to get much worse before it gets better whether you fire him yesterday, or after the season. My question was, "How does firing Manny today change any of this?" The answer is, it does not. We're going to have to pull our pants down and grab our ankles on the trail this cycle no matter what.
Recruiting class is ranked higher than what the team is.Our class is now ranked no. 59; right behind Marshall, UCF, and Boise State. Just what you'd expect from a guy who could only get a HC offer from Temple, ... and our lazy, fraud of an AD.
Nah. Actually this is what happens when your team sucks... These kids committed to trob and DVD because they bought into off-season Manny and his hype. Well our reality is once the season starts he's no longer off-season Manny he immediately becomes Mandy. The pariah off acc football & the boon of the south... That's why kids decommit first and foremost. The staff change actually brings hope where otherwise there is lil to none...Y'all want to fire the entire athletic department (and I can't really argue against it). Well, this is what happens when you do. Remember, firing coaches in 2021 is more painful than it was in the past due to ESD. You used to be able to fire a coach after Thanksgiving and hire someone in December and salvage a class. All the timing is now moved up. So, firing Manny and everyone else and not hiring a new coach until December/January essentially kills an entire class.

agreed but what's the diff? we won't have a coach come in midseason and we don't know if the new coach will even retain a single stafferthats why he needs to be canned sooner rather than later.
Knew he was to elite to come here lol huge loss and let the dominoes begin. This class will be the worst class in a long time. Dead end job for the next HC.....he is going to go through ****.

You're not wrong but it seems to come down to prolonging the inevitable... At this point just tear down the house and start the rebuild now... Yes it's gonna suck but it's gonna suck regardless...I don't think there's a "right" or easy way to do this. I think you have a sequencing problem here. No coaches have been fired. The AD still has his job. And yet, a decommitment. While I understand your greater point (i.e., that ESD has made coach firings more punitive on recruiting in the short term), the fact is this recruit left before anyone was fired.
What does that tell me? It tells me the street is already acting like Manny is gone (Tom Hanks might as well be escorting him around the hallways of the Hecht). If recruits are already acting like Manny's fired, what difference does it make?
Cut the cord and move on. Get a jump on 2022. Let coaches know the job is open. Let recruits know you're serious about hiring a quality coach and see if they'll push their decisions to February. Either way, it looks like they're already starting to act as if.
Right now no recruit whether committed or not knows who's gonna be here by years end...this I agree w. you fire Manny today, no recruit would know if DVD/Simpson/Field/Trob will be retained as we won't be naming a coach till likely after ESD anyways. no coach is gonna interview till the reg season ends either. were gonna be waiting till the end of the year no matter what
