Treon Harris.

If he doesnt wanna play corner let him go, he will see he wont play qb in the nfl. U would think his dad would be telling him this

Brandon Harris also played QB in college at BTW just like Treon. Now he's in the NFL making millions at CB. All you gotta do is give him that example. He'll smarten up.

*EYE* get that. YOU get that. Treon literally cut an interviewer off when he started to ask a follow up question along these lines when Treon said he would ONLY play QB in college.

Long story short, kid can't see the forest for the trees right now.

His Dad, brothers, and college coach will help him see that when he steps on Greentree.

Exactly unless this kid becomes Russell Wilson. I know I wouldn't lie to the kid to get him to UM. I just think it sits us up for a fail.

You don't lie to him. You give him a chance to prove himself at QB. When he doesn't you tell him that he will be an excellent college corner and that is where he will make his money in the NFL.

Sounds a lot like Sam Shields... if not move him somewhere else.

His dad is Ice Harris; he's a lock. Bring him in at QB, give him a chance, and then move him if he can't play. Don't be a dumbass like Randy and tell him CB straight up.

This, hope he doesn't have to sit at QB as long as AJ Highsmith did though.

Here's the problem I see, if coaches and schools will offer below average players in order to get the stud (cough, FSU, cough), then there's no doubt that they'll guarantee him a QB position. Treon will then have decide if the "opportunity" to try out at QB is more attractive than a guarantee to play it. I, for one, like his stubbornness; it's the one thing that makes elite athletes elite. My hope is that he doesn't lose it, but rather, that is directed properly. That kind of determination and resolve is what the great UM teams of the past were made of, but if it isn't properly developed, then he'll go to a program who tells him everything he wants to hear only to never be heard of again.

Ice told me that he's dead set on playing QB. Ice also said he doesn't have an offer. A day later Treon told me he does. Im thinking Al has offered him to come in as an ATH.

He could probably play QB if we re worked the entire system around his strengths and weaknesses, like Michigan did for Denard. We would also then get smashed every time we played a team that could neutralize him, and I am not quite convinced he is the electric athlete Denard was.

He'll be sold a bill of goods at some other school, telling him he can play QB. He'll get to the school and will be asked to change positions midway through his freshman year.

when someone tells him how much more money he will make by playing CB instead of 'trying' to play QB, he will reconsider.

If the kid is an athlete and football player you want in your program, you give him a chance to play quarterback. Every. Single. Time.

Southern Miss wanted Brett Favre as a safety but gave him a chance to play QB. He became Brett Favre. FSU gave Anquan Boldin a chance to play QB, he got beat out, and he became their best receiver since Fred Biletnikoff.

On the other hand, Mack Brown recruited RGIII and Johnny Manziel as athletes instead of quarterbacks. Joe Paterno told Jim Kelly he was a linebacker. We know how those stories ended.

Now with Russell Wilson's success every short QB/ATH will think they can be the next him

I think the kid can play QB in college! He very mobile and has decent pocket presence and he decent accuracy! The way the college game is shaping up you need a QB that can escape pressure! I seen him play a few time and he can be just as good as RW or Golson! I just can imagine how many people told Russell Wilson he would never play QB in the pro's!

Can't +rep this enough. There's a big difference between lying to a kid about his projected position and taking a 'prove it' attitude. You give the kid an opportunity to play QB. Plus, athletic QBs you take for depth purposes (that can possibly play other positions) are much more valuable than nonathletic QBs you take for depth purposes. I'll gladly take a Buck Ortega or A.J. Highsmith on my team, to go with a couple blue-chippers.

The problem we will start running into, and we will start seeing it this year, is when you have Flowers, Harris and Edouard in the same class. You want them all on the team, but they're not all gonna buy the "prove yourself at QB" line, especially when you also then bring in the Olsen-type that is a truer QB prospect. I don't know the answer, because I want them all and think they all deserve a shot at QB if they want it, but also don't want them to feel lied to.
