I dreamed for years this guy would come home. I can’t quote chapter and verse for anecdotes -that convinced me long ago that you don’t want to be competing on the trail against TRob- but I’ve not doubted his recruiting in over a decade.
Even with that, he has surpassed all the hopes I had when he joined the staff.


I don’t know if his skills translate to being a great DC, but, at a minimum, they translate to him being paid very very well as our secondary coach. Between he and Manny together, I personally think he would be a successful DC. If he has any weaknesses, I think Ed Reed and Shoop could give him the support he needs to adjust to calling a game. Maybe that jettisons Shoop though? Guess we shall see.

If I was Manny, I definitely hire Trob as DC, but I also ask him to either hire someone he voucher for as a Safety coach or put Shoop in an on-field role (Safety Coach), keep the current staff on D, but I'd allow him to hire his own proven LB coach (bye bye patke).

Recruiting is the life blood of any program. We finally have an ACE recruiter. We can't let him leave!
