Mario is taking a conservative approach in order to get it done the right way. He's not just going to rush his hires or who transfers here to create fake buzz or get a kid to commit to us. Most of the best recruiters for transfers seem to be current players. Which is probably why a guy like Ladson is more in play. Just a thought.

It sucks in the short term but its the right play. Assuming he makes good hires. At this point outside of the NFL playoffs there should be no hold backs here after tonight.

Lol here we go with the Mario sucks sht because yal automatically assume we lead for every kid who enters the portal

Folks were acting like getting Moss was a layup and the kid said himself he wasn’t even returning Mario calls at first cuz he didn’t know sht about Miami . Man’s been on job a month, let him work before yal start crying ****

Anybody saying Moss was a layup is out of their mind. Moss was a coupe like we haven't seen here in a long long time.

Its kind of hard to ask a transfer to commit here when we dont even have half the staff or any coordinators announced. Especially the 1 and done guys, they should be making a smart business decision. Part of that decision has to be based on scheme fit, who they are being coached by, a teams needs and how they would be used.

Yup. I mentioned this after Coleman committed to JSU and got negged lol.

Now don’t get me wrong…I’d much rather Mario take his time and get the guys he wants. But there is a potential trade off which is losing out on some guys. Nothing we can’t recover from considering he’s still pulling in players like Kelly, Bissainthe, and Moss.

Not the end of the world. Short term pain for long term gain.

Mario in no way sucks. He’s an elite recruiter BUT to act like we aren’t going to lose kids we want because there are no coordinators is blind loyalty too. Both can be true.
 
My argument when people were saying we were going heavy portal is that our intentions may be that, but can we execute it? The portal is as competitive as recruiting now, and we no longer are out in front on it.

We've lost portal battles to Miss St, Auburn, FSU, and South Carolina so far. Not exactly a who's who of college football elites.

Mario is going to build it too last, but this roster has holes that is going to put a ceiling on how many wins the 2022 team can get imo. That's why the OC hire is so critical. The offense is going to need to carry this team alot.

I don’t disagree it’s a possibility. But we all actually have no idea why we “lost” these kids . I don’t get the blind loyalty comment ; all I’m saying is it’s possible these kids committed elsewhere for a plethora of reasons . Obviously it COULD be a factor , just feels like “well we have no coordinators” is all of a sudden the go to answer for why we haven’t landed any portal kids .

I agree. But Dmoney did confirm that Coleman not coming because we had no coordinators wasn’t just rumor. There was some truth to it. (And whatever JSU gave him obviously didn’t hurt either). We haven’t lost anyone I’m really upset about....yet. The big dawgs are visiting the next few weekends, we will have the OC and DC in place to greet them. (Stewart, 5* OL from Washington, Florence from SD to be exact)

Coleman was also very tight with Hunter is why he liked FSU too,then followed him to JSU.
