People love to talk **** on message boards because of the extremes of opinions that get a voice but over time the truth gets out to the masses on boards like this one.

This may seem offbeat but Ive long held the belief that Butch Davis would have been treated much better during his time as head coach at UM if the internet existed back then. If messages boards were around Canes fans would have known that Butch was collecting high level talent on a grand scale and slowly crawling above the wreckage of a massive probationary period.

In short, CIS is The Truth!!! :alien:

Due to over stocking position rooms at premier programs, there will always be high caliber players available in the portal, especially at QB.

And because all you really need is a good OC, QB’s will always be replaceable via the Portal, probably more than any other position. Because a great offensive system can create success for a QB that render them more valuable than their initial ranking, meaning you can take a mid-tier QB & put him in a great system & he suddenly elevates to a better QB.

Oklahoma losing two talented high ranked kids like Spencer Rattler & Caleb Williams could be devastating for them, except they still have Jeff Lebby, so they can essentially find a 1-2 year rental in the portal & then try to land a big time QB in the 23 class, but that will be contingent upon how bad Lebby wants to stay on a sinking ship. Obviously, they made him the highest paid OC in the business to get him, but that money can be remade in much better situation than Okla, especially after they fall off a cliff this season.

But Oklahoma made a huge huge mistake making a lifelong Defensive guy like Venables their HC. You don’t replace an offensive guru like Lincoln Riley with a first time HC & Defensive minded guy like Venables, Venables would be the hire to make 4 years from now, not right now & their offensive recruiting will suffer for it.

I'm a fan of giving these kids options, especially when these coaches sell them dreams and then leave the very next week but the portal is also gonna hurt alot of kids. Not all these dudes are gonna get picked up.
