Transfer Portal watch

Below is a list of players that I do NOT want to leave the program, but I would understand why they would leave for more playing time or greater NIL benefits:

1. Miller
2. JHH
3. Roberts
4. K. Smith (if we bring in 2 portal LBs)
5. Balom (losing reps to Blades)
6. Key (if we bring in a #1 WR...Restrepo and George have outperformed him with Brinson in the shadows)
7. Knighton (I know...why would he be on this list...but there are only so many carries per game and the backfield is loaded)
8. Campbell

There are other more likely transfer candidates on the roster. No doubt. But, these players have higher market values and would hurt depth. They are experienced and played well when given limited opportunities in the past. That makes them targets for back-door dealings with teams offering immediate playing time.

I hope most (if not all) decide to stay.

I was told he’s been going back in forth with leaving and staying since I first mentioned him in Dec. It seems like he’s back leaning hitting the portal. If he hits you’ll know where the likely stop is but until then it’s wait and see. After I was told he decided to stay I never checked back until I started seeing the rumors popping up again.

The new Nil mixed with the portal makes this **** very unpredictable. So many names have been contemplating entering to get a piece of the new Nil pie at other schools. Crazy times.

Can someone explain why we would take Caleb Johnson’s commitment if Mikel Jones is going to enter the portal? Aren’t they both ILBs? Seems to me if Caleb does commit tomorrow and Mikel does then enter the portal we would be far from a lock with how teams would recruit that given we just took an ILB lol

For once in a very long time perhaps we can sit back and actually trust the staff that we have to have this figured out and do the right thing! I know it is hard for all of us to grasp this concept given the years of idiocy in the coaching ranks, but, lets give it a shot!
