Transfer Portal (U Only)

So just fix it now. There are plenty of options at DB. Mario can’t wait for a new DC or DB coach, he should just assign this issue to that new recruiting coordinator as first order of business this morning.
I'm pretty certain will have another pretty good DB coming our way once the portal situation is worked out...

It really is alarming looking at the secondary. Even if we land Branch bros + land that 3rd corner (still not sure Lucas plays CB or S) it looks like one of our freshman corners gonna have to be ready to play rotational reps immediately. My best guess is Antoine + Ewald will get in the mix while Fitzgerald is relegated to just special teams year 1 and Amari Wallace is fully redshirted. But we will be a couple injuries away from disaster at all times.
JFC,.. and there’s gonna be a Cat 1-4 hurricane sometime in 2025 to hit Florida somewhere. And if that not bad enough the Sun,.. it’s gonna come up,.. tomorrow, and then ,.. go down and we will be plunged into darkness,.. again. Gawd Help Us.

So looks like we survived losing any major pieces besides Horton. Good stuff

CJ Daniels is a comparable player. Problem isn’t the portal guys, it’s all the guys. So Bauman replaces Arroyo and Schott replaces Riley. At WR, Trader replaces George, Daniels Horton, Carr Brown, and hopefully Branch Restrepo. Something like that.

Who will replace Cam is the question.

i think it's fair as us fans to at least acknowledge the job the staff did with retention - especially considering half the staff was or will be let go and most the offense left (typically when players feel like the ship is going down they bounce).

teams all across the country lost important players to the portal. the only projected starter that we lost was horton (not including the DB's who I'm certain we pushed out)

When you consider we have no DC and uncertainty across that staff, the retention plus additions is remarkable. I hope the pieces match the scheme we bring in. There’s still post-spring. Hopefully no more big losses, particularly given the rumors about Scott and Lightfoot. We need those DL to stay and develop.

Agreed. I think the sentiment the fan base feels isn’t the same as the team. Glad we really aren’t flipping the roster again. Great impact guys in the portal so far. Couple more. Get these really good freshman and sophomore classes to take the next step and we are in a good spot.

But aren't we flipping the roster? I get what you mean by to this point retaining the majority of guys expected to contribute, as well as prized prospects, but with graduation, early departures, and portalers I'd think we'll still have ballpark 40 new canes suit up in the fall.

That number is normal through college. 25 freshman class. 10 portal ish.

Only rooms really flipping are DB. Everything else is largely remaining the same. Maybe WR too
