Tramel Walthour 2018 3* DT will GrayShirt at UGA, Miami should reach out Coach Simpson could use his Georgia connections.

Walthour has been all Georgia to this point but UGA has asked him to grayshirt in order to make roster room for ND grad transfer Jay Hayes. Walthour put all his eggs into the UGA basket during recruiting so may feel he has no other options at this point, which is were coach Simpson could come in with a Miami offer at DT.

I saw this story, too. They were actually at 89 scholarships at their spring game. got 2 guys medical red shirts and two transfers set up before they took the grad transfer. That left the one extra scholarship again.

Greyshirting means he's NOT on scholarship, and there is nothing at all that binds him to UGA or vice versa. Doesn't matter what was signed in December.

Not a student
Can't practice
Can't play
No benefits

I believe he can rejoin UGA after the 1st semester but can't participate in any games obviously.

He has been released from his NLI and will have to wait until January 2019 to attend UGA or he can enroll in the fall part time an pay his own way as a regular student but not participate in any football activities. Attending part time doesn't start his 5 year eligibility clock. Either way Miami should kick the tires on this 6'4" 280lb DT who has the frame to carry 300lbs easily an not lose a step.

Go Canes

Could you imagine the local hate we would get if we did this? Let’s say we were loaded at DT and we told a local guy like Nesta we were greyshriting him. The local community would cause an uproar.

It wouldn't ultimately matter if you were pumping out NC contending teams. Yes, it would matter to that small group of people, but all the other recruits would be saying that's never going to happen to me. Fans, they would justify it as well with whatever they came up with. It sucks for that young man, but he's on the outside of what's essentially a business decision.

That is 100% the case in Georgia, but if the same situation happened here the kids whole block would be tweeting about the disrespect. You would have the HS coaches/administration trying to funnel kids to FSU/UF. We would never hear the end of it if Miami tried to pull this stunt.

If we ever get to the point we are stacked, more than 85 schollys, we would probably do this also if needed for the team.
