Tosh Lupoi is a Free Agent...and now he's in trouble

Lupoi screwed the Cal program and an unsuspecting Coach Tedford in 2012. Tedford trusted him and being an "old school" coach he was slow to understand social media's role in recruiting. He left it to Lupoi.

In the middle of recruiting season Lupoi, a Cal Alum, took a HUGE salary bump to go to UW. He also took all his recruiting contacts and they ended up with him or elsewhere. Tedford never recovered and soon lost his job. Look at Cal now as the spiral has gotten worse.

You can argue that Lupoi did what the system allowed but if you were a HC anywhere would you trust him?

(Cal grad and now Cane Dad)

So what do you expect the guy to do. Take 150,000-200,000 dollars less because it's the "honorable" thing do? Surely you can't be serious. Tosh knew what he was worth and so did the guys at Udub. Tedford should've figured out something, EVEN if it was having one of the boosters pay Tosh the difference off the books in cash.

Like you said, look at cal now. 1 WIN. 1. And Can't get the same type of recruits anymore. That 2012 class cal would've had if Tosh would've stayed..... Shaq Thompson, Arik Armstead, Jordan Payton, Aziz ****tu,Ellis McCarthy, know Eddie Goldman was going to visit, etc.....

This is the business they live in. Tosh did what was best for Tosh. Why was Tedford so **** lazy that he left all contact for high profile recruits to a position coach/RC. Look at Golden, he seems to take the lead of all high profile recruits. Thats how its done.

I admit a bit of bias based on being a a Berkeley native and grad who dreams of seeing Cal in a Rose Bowl in my lifetime That doesnt seem likely at any point in the next millenium as there isnt an FBS program in worse shape right now. Lupoi stabbing Oski in the back didnt help. (It dooes amaze me the reaction to 9-3 on this board but that is another story).

That being said, there are ways to do things without torching bridges. I dont begrudge Lupoi taking the money. However when you pack up everything with you inclduing the kitchen sink you cross a different threshold. Its one thing to leave a business/firm its another to take all the files and clients with you. You guys can argue the ethics side of it all day long as its not black and white. I am just saying he did it once why would you trust him in the future?

I bet you Cristobal "manned up" and told AG hey thanks for the lifeline but I got this perfect opportunity and they shook hands as they split up. I have nothing to base that on but my own intuition and I could be wrong. I just dont see any evidence of bad blood or Cristobal using info gleaned while at the U even if it was just a short time.

Its a tough business but they dont all do it the Lupoi way

Go Bears and #IstandwiththeU.

I have no idea what this guy Tush Lupoi looks like, but I can assure you, that guy is not Tush Lupoi.

That's that guy from the neighborhood, whatever his name is, I forgot. He's after my time as a kid.

Mike Davis, a throwing coach who helped Basham win a state shotput title, told The Times that Tosh Lupoi, Washington’s defensive line coach, gave him $3,000 to cover private tutoring for [Andrew] Basham through a test preparation company. Davis said he also received $1,500 from Lupoi to reimburse Basham’s father for online classes Andrew could use to raise his grade-point average.

Wow. Cool. Never a dull moment. Imagine if they all go down....Washington, Cal, USC. Will be fun to watch.

you'll **** make for some good reading material, I'll give you all that.

USC might have to fire Sarkisian. I doubt they want NCAA even sniffing their direction again. Guess they will wait to see what happens but wow, woould you want NCAA on campus at all if you were USC?

LOL, I almost forgot about that. Going to be pretty interesting considering the NCAA has recently implemented harsher restrictions for infractions going forward.

Never understood the call for Tosh to come here. He is a west coast guy (and apparently doing the dirty).

Someone like Brick Haley at LSU makes more sense to me.

Yep.

Totally. Because, you know, we didn't just get investigated for nearly 3 years and put on probation our **** selves for having an out of control DL coach who was doing **** just like this. But you're right... This will work! I believe!

Dumb ***.

Is there something in the article that suggests that Sarkisian knew? I'm sure it's possible if this blew up it could be connected to him, but look at all the stuff that happened here and Randy didn't get touched.

Apparently the guy is a dirty recruiter which is why Haden and the USC admin are reluctant to sign off on him.

He's a snake too. He left the school he played for (Cal) last minute a few years ago for Washington and pretty much destroyed their class.

Just give me Kevin Patrick

Lol tosh is not a snake. Cal didn't want to give him the money he wanted, Udub and sark did. Simple as that. Look at cal now lol.

As far as him being "dirty". What do you mean?
