Miami really likes him. They think he's a better prospect than Telfort
How does he feel about Miami. We are also better than Telfort, IMO.

Pay attention to motor and toughness, and you'll be ahead of most people when it comes to evaluating interior linemen. If you see a mentally soft OL getting raves from recruiting nerds solely based on measurables, then beware.I'm not sold on Telfort given that he was beaten like a government mule the last game. I remember Coach Macho's evaluation of him and couple that with how he's handled his recruitment, I'm more sold on Bateman. Having said that, this is not a hard stance as I know very little in terms of evaluating offensive linemen.

You've been consistent on this point for years and it's absolutely true. Mental toughness and a high motor are natural adjuncts that you see in almost every good lineman. That's why Ken Dorsey is considered one of the greatest college quarterbacks in history. I guarantee you he'd be nothing but a footnote if he played behind the line Miami has had over the last couple of years. His line was had one elite left tackle and a bunch of overachieving, tough mother****ers who went hard every play.
As much as I like reading about Thomas, Smith, and the skill position recruiting, this is what matters most to me. Need OL if we are going to get back on top. I'll trade Smith for Bateman anyday.
That's a bit strong regarding the OL.
Bibla was a top 100 player when we came out of PA (the only starter who was highly rated). Romberg was highly regarded out of Canada.

I strongly disagree. I would rather take a plug & play 5* WR which we desperately need over a consensus 3* linemen that we will most likely have to develop for 2+ years. We already have a few projects on the O-line in Hillery & Dykstra. No disrespect to those two glad to have them, but Smith will help us next fall not fall 2019.
If I was allowed i could recruit him for Miami . His Highschool is about 25 minutes from

Unfortunately there seems to be a difference in Bateman's excitement level when Louisville OL coach came to visit than UM's coach Searels. I am hoping Miami can close the deal during his official visit.
