With Miami needing a new FB for the 2017 season, it makes flipping Tory Carter 2017 3* FB from Lee County, GA who is currently committed to LSU an important yet understated part of UM's 2017 class. The 6'2" 260lbs Carter is what you draw up when you describe a full back he is also country strong with a 370lb bench and 600lbs squat as a junior in high school. The fact that LSU currently has 5 fullbacks on the roster none of whom are seniors, but still offered Carter after he camped with them speaks volumes about his abilities. Throw in Michigan offering him as a fullback as well, which also speaks to the young man's toughness.
Carter has good pop when contacting a defender and drives through the block delivering several pancake blocks in his highlight tapes. He also plays D-End for his high school starting next to the country's 5th best DT for 2017 DT Aubrey Solomon. But on the next level Carter knows his best position is fullback utilizing his very good ball skills coming out of the backfield as well delivering crushing blocks.
In an interview with scout he outlined how education is important to his parents and how he wants to go into coaching after college.

South's No. 1 FB Tory Carter made the trek to LSU; the Tigers offered, Carter Committed - Football Recruiting - Scout
Carter seems like an intelligent young man that has a long term plan, which could play more into Miami being a better fit than LSU given Miami's need for FB an Carter wanting more playing time early in his career. An with UM's return to being a Top 40 academic institution this could be carrot for his parents. The state of Georgia has been Mark Richt's fiefdom for over a decade so hopefully if Miami makes a late push to flip Carter, when LSU's season implodes it will be like taking candy from a baby since not many offenses utilize fullbacks an who know's what offensive system a new coach would run.
