****ting the bed last year when the most ridiculous crop of recruits in years are all less than 45 min from campus is gong to haunt us for years. Like even when they’re in the nfl we will have threads about each one. Biggest F ever. Unless Manny can convince half of them to stay this is way worse than the DB class misses of a few years ago.

Look at the bright side. These are not mature, wise decision-makers. The last impression is oftentimes the most lasting one. If we can get rolling, we can turn some heads quickly. (But, then again, we've been saying "if we can get rolling" for years now.) I'm all aboard the Lashlee-King train. I hope they can generate the kind of momentum we haven't seen since the 10-0 2017 start (that hit a thud at the most important time).

These kids are gonna get pushed to pull the trigger early. We also need qb2 to look like stud and run the offense well or they’re gonna say our team is all King

Good list.

The guy I would add is Kinchens. He is a major-league ballhawk with consistent, outstanding ball production on the field and in 7on7s. He can also hit and is a football-oriented leader.
 
Until we stop the SEC from poaching the majority of So Fla 5 stars we will continue to struggle/lose to teams like Duke/FIU/Louisiana Technical School.

Your idea is backwards IMO, keep those kids home and you don't lose to bad teams. We need ELITE recruiters to walk in these kids living rooms and convince them Miami is the school.


We went 10-3 and were ranked #1 in 17 and still got poached by SEC schools......
 
Also respectfully disagree with the James Williams comparison to Sean Taylor.

James is nothing like Sean, not in mentality, skill/ability, football IQ etc, maybe physically there's somewhat of a comparison but other than being a big sized Safety, there's no parallels between the two IMO.

Sean was an astronomically gifted talent that could've/would've been an All-pro HOF'er at RB, WR, TE, LB & S. His versatility & otherworldly competitive nature separated himself from everyone else. James is nothing close to that, he's just a big athlete who's a pretty good HS Safety that will probably have to play LB in college. Doesn't have the football IQ/mental acuity or the tenacity that Sean had, doesn't have the speed, ball skills, tackling, lateral movement, fluidity. etc, he's a completely different player than Sean was in HS.

JW to me is on a sliding scale between Stanley Jean-Baptiste & Adrian Wilson as a DB & as a LB, Telvin Smith ceiling.

Greatly respect your opinion D$, just don't see the Sean thing with JW, unless you just meant physically.

Sean is on his own level. Wanted to make that clear on the first line of my write up.

But Williams a special dude and the first guy who made me even think of ST. There is a reason his bag is so heavy. Those are good teams on his highlight reel and he makes them look JV.

If I were to make a specific comp for Williams, it would be Isaiah Simmons of Clemson.

That 2017 season was our first 10-win season since 2003 and our first ACCCG, yet the 2018 class was No. 8 on 247 Composite. Imagine if we managed to win 10 games and go to the ACCCG for 2-3 seasons straight...

Regardless, if we need 5* talent to beat the likes of Duke/FIU/LaTech, then we are doing literally everything wrong.

and after that season and since then the SEC has still taken who they want for SoFla, that's my point.....

And of course we SHOULD beat those teams, but we have all been spewing that same throw up line for 15 years now. Good coaches/staffs can get talent to stay home, we do not. Until that changes we will flounder in a **** division.... fact.

Because we followed up that season by playing trash football and winning 7 games in 2018, including getting our butts kicked on National television game 1 against L$U, and later losing 4-straight to UVA, BC (******* red bandanas), Duke, and GT. As bad as 2018 was, we followed it up with a 6-win 2019 that started with a loss to an in-state rival (UiF), a loss to a less talented UNC team, 3-straight losses to perennial basement-dwellers FIU, Duke, and LaTech to end the year, and just for fun, we also lost to possibly the worst GT team I have seen in two decades.

That's why we don't get nice things.

Not that we have had them, but explain to me, precisely, how "good coaches/staffs can get talent to stay home" on a team that's basically a 7-win program for the past 15 years.

Absent a huge influx of cash and booster money, your thinking about this is upside-down. Honestly answer these questions for yourself. Do you think it is easier to recruit kids away from top $EC programs while winning 6-7 games vs. winning 9-10 games per season? Do you think we need consistent top 10 classes to win 9-10 games in the ACC Coastal? Do you think nationally recruited kids prefer to suit up for a team losing in the Independence Bowl over a team consistently playing in the NY6 bowls? Do you think our program has similar $$$ to throw at recruiting (both in terms of facilities and staff, and other benefit$) as $ec schools + Clem$on and O$U?

If you were honest, the answer to each of those questions is "No."

Sure, people have been spewing "win first" for 15 years. The problem is we haven't won ****. If someday Miami is winning 10+ games a season consistently and appearing in NY6 bowls on the regular we can revisit this if we aren't landing the top tier kids locally.

I disagree, I think we have had poor scouting and poor recruiting combined with poor play for 15 years. Like I said, drop a competent staff in Coral Gables and they keep some of these kids home we have not. Look at the kids at STA from 30 miles away that have spurned us, it's unreal. No school loses as much local talent as us, no matter on the field results. Look at Texas, they kill it in recruiting while being an average B12 team year in and year out. So do Michigan and some middling SEC schools like Tennessee/TAMU while winning 6 games. And we have more talent within 30 miles than any of them......

But you can blame it on record, I will point to other factors, we can do this all day but I will pass
