I am as excited as anyone about the season however my fear is the number of True Frosh in the two deep.
- If you look at the last depth chart (which as we know Al sometimes includes 3 players) we have 5 True Frosh on O and 5 on D that we are depending on in 2014
- If you look at the top teams we are playing virtually none of them have this many True Frosh in their 2 deep --- some RS Frosh but very few True's
- Don't get me wrong, these kids will be the corner stone to success in the future but last year at the high school level, these kids were almost always playing against someone slower and smaller than what they will see in College

Yes - every top 10 team this year will have a couple True Frosh that will help them --- but I am not sure anyone in the top 20 will depend on as many as we are

The depth chart is a motivational tactic. Ignore it. Game day is the real depth chart.

We will lose some pieces after this year, but it still seems as if we are a year off in a few positions.

The difference this year IMO is that many of young guys seem to be "earning" their spot in the two deep as opposed to being there out of necessity with the glaring exception being LB. A case could be made for the right side of the OL as well.

Yearby, Berrios, Brady, Thomas, Owens, McDermott, Darling, Harris by all accounts have just been too good in camp to consider RSing or not getting a ton of burn.

If there were no freshmen in the two deep, people would be complaining about the recruiting class.

Realistically on O you'll see Yearby, Kaaya, KC and Darling. On Defense CT, Owens and Young. All of those players are 4-5* and many are early enrolees.

or it can't mean we have had better recruiting classes and they are replacing and better than 4th year jrs and srs?

damned if you, damned if you don't.

what someone else said. not all those guys will be on the 2 deep come the start of the season. yearby and mcdermott were early enrollees and hs AA's.
and few, if any, will be counted on for major roles.

we need to win our division and be in ACC title game this year. next year is the year we start playing for BCS.

Infinitely better than 2012. The true freshman this year are fighting for backup LBer and Safety spots. A couple years ago we had 3 true freshman starting in the secondary and earl Moore starting on the line.

Cue the excuses

No excuses. Hopefully a lesson learned by the chest thumpers who think this program runs on autopilot.

Goldens first recruiting class was a mad scramble for bodies. Not surprisingly many washed out. Then Yahoo drops its load and it's up hill from there. Why is it such a mystery as to why we are still relying on freshmen?

People *****ed for good reason about some big guys we missed out on, but top to bottom this past class was the best one I've seen in a long time here. Really not many weak links or reaches which only ups your odds of finding starters of guys that can crack the two deep. It's a **** good class and it's showing it already.
