Tomorrow's scrimmage will be a better indication of where we're at, both offensively and defensively.

Golden says it will be more like a game (kickoffs, punt, full length field, substitution from sideline, etc)

Expect more of the same though. Defense getting butts kicked. They can't tackle & they can't get a push up front from what little I've seen and heard.
Hope I'm wrong.

The defense didn't get it's butt kicked the last scrimmage and won't get their butts kicked this scrimmage. If Coach D puts in the ones and runs his defense the offense goes nowhere. The D is further along than the O.

So in last scrimmage the 1's on defense didn't go up against the 1's on offense?
And coach D didn't run his defense?

Que?

Can't tackle & no pass rush = last yr

That there is some trenchant analysis.

The D appeared to get kicked around last scrimmage because of the numbers but they were starting drives inside the 10 for alot of that so Golden said if the offense didn't score it would be more of a problem for them.

I wouldn't say the defense got their but kicked last scrimmage. If you run 10+ from the 2 yard line and they score 4 or 5 TDs...it just is what it is. The defense definitely handled them in the Spring game and with this being a more game like situation, I expect to see the offense have more problems again like they did in the spring.

Well while we're making excuses for the defense... how about one for the offense in the spring. Morris didn't play in the game.
Starting QB not playing > few LBs not playing

I like how you conveniently left out the 2nd part of my statement which conveyed my point.

How is it making excuses for the defense when you simply state that a bunch of the TD's scored on them where in Goal Line situations where the coaches put the ball on the 2 yd line without any type of drive taking place? You do understand what that means right?

Fair enough. I have no problem with that. Just stressing the point that is hard to say that the defense looked horrible in the type of scrimmage they had last week. Comparing apples to apples makes more sense which is what we should see in the last scrimmage to compare against the spring game.

Who has said they can't tackle? Every indication I've had is that tackling and fundamentals have dramatically improved compared to last year.

D is exponentially better than last year- especially in fundamentals..... who let this nonsense from TOS in over here??????? ;-p

The fact that the coaches aren't spending time in the media talking about having to get back to fundamentals and learning how to tackle shows that this team has improved in that area but that doesnt really matter because people will always bring that back up no matter what our record is.

i'm guessing this is at greentree, right?

i'm planning on being down in the gables for canesfest which starts around 4... anyone know what time the scrimmage is at?

maybe i can catch some from the outside (assuming it isn't open to the public?)

In this scrimmage, the offense should not look better than the defense. If there are INT's, is that the DB's making plays or the QB's/WR's making mistakes? Sacks? OL sucks or DL good? RB's, same thing? Are they that good, is the OL good, or is the defense bad and vice versa. I never know what to take away from these things except I don't want anybody injured.

I THOUGHT this was CanesInsight.

I THOUGHT this was about tomorrow's SCRIMMAGE.

A Scrimmage. A frikking scrimmage. So everyone knows what to work on . . . . for . . . the upcoming game?

The recruits were saying the defense handled the offense. I think we will have a Top 15-20 defense this year. It takes 1.5 years for players to get it and I put that right at the NC State game. I'll take the dink and dunk offense if it gets us wins, because in theory we are 2 years away from a NC. Miami was filthy when it had a great defense, add in a really good game-manager or above average QB and it will start to roll.
