Titans Staff Worked out Cam Ward today

Think of it as an interview for a job with a starting salary in the millions. If a company's going to make that big of an investment, they want to be thorough. And if you're the candidate, doing this for a possible job that pays an exorbitant salary doesn't sound like too much of a hassle.
It is this but also a job interview for one location at a guild in restraint of trade that doesn't allow full freedom of contract for the employees, so you are a hot shot job candidate but NY and LA and SF can't take you if Nashville wants you.

I seen they wanted 3 first round picks from the Giants. Everything the Titans have done this offseason has pointed to them selecting Cam at #1. I think they’re just doing what any team with the #1 pick is supposed to. They’re saying everything to draw the hype up but I think it’s been known for a while that Cam will be a Titan. The only way he’s not is if some team comes with some ridiculous offer that they can’t refuse. Sucks he won’t be able to wear #1 with the Titans though.

The plan with Will Levis is that he has a chance to compete for a starting job next year, just like every player on our roster. It's no different for Will.I see him in our facility, he's working hard. Everybody knows he's a great kid, he's a hard worker, and he's going to give it everything he has. We're going to continue to work with Will Levis."

I've had some time the past two days to surf around the web and read the local Tennessee publications.. listen to some podcasts from their local radio stations, etc. Picked up a few interesting tidbits that haven't been reported by the mainstream media.

First, no one has reported that Titan's controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk went down to Miami for Cam's private work out last Friday. She accompanied the entire front office leadership, head coach, OC & QB coach. She went down to meet Cam and the presumption is, to get to know the player that will soon be the face of the franchise. The local media that reported this says they have heard that the trip and the meeting with Cam went very, very well. The reporter who wrote the article said it's his understanding this doesn't usually happen unless the player is the presumed pick.

Mike Borgonzi sat with one of the local Titan reporters at the NFL meetings in Palm Beach this week. During that conversation, he was asked about the private workout - specifically , what did it entail, what did they get from it, and how will they use it. Borgonzi was quick to point out that it isn't a grueling type workout but rather a chance for their coaches to give Cam some throws/scenarios that haven't been pr- scripted. They want to see how he interacts with the guys he brought with him (Restrepo, Arroyo, George and one other unnamed guy), how he executes and also, how he takes coaching with regard to footwork, etc. Borgonzi essentially said it's another opportunity for the Titan staff to get to know him, talk to him and interact with him on a one-to-one basis. He did say it went very well and that Cam was a very impressive guy.

Many Tennessee fans want to know why Brinker, Borgonzi and Callahan haven't just come out and said that Cam is going to be the pick. The local writers/broadcasters/podcasters all seem to think it's just the Titans playing the game for the NFL. They want to keep up the suspense as long as possible so as to keep the viewership numbers high for their Draft broadcast. They all believe the Titans brass have left enough crumbs for people to read the tea leaves. The national guys are playing along with this...

All that's left for the Titans is a couple of zoom call meetings with Cam before the draft. They are allowed to do this as part of the process.

One notable thing that came out at the NFL meetings was Chad Brinker and Brian Callahan will not attend the Colorado Showcase with Shedeur this Friday. They are saying they have seen him in games this past season and they had personal interaction at both the Combine and Shrine bowl . All the brass ARE expected to be on hand April 9th for his private workout. It's unclear whether Hunter will also be working out with Shedeur on April 9th.

I was going to post this as well. As a Titans fan, I can tell you all AAS has developed close relationships with the Titan's star players (i.e., Derrick Henry is a good example). Her meeting Cam is a big tell at this point.

very good friend of mine is a hugeeee titans fan from Nashville and is also a Canes fan since some of his fam went to UM. He actually doesnt want the titans to pick Cam. He is afraid they have SO many holes that its not a good fit for him, he loves the new OC and HC, thinks they can do well with him but simply that he needs more help and without it Cam will try to do too much, force too many errors and start to wane his confidence. I dont think I caught a single Titans game last year for more than a quarter or so so I cannot really say but thought it was an interesting take.

The local writers put out a podcast this morning. They talked about the fact AAS went on the trip. It came out because the local reporter text one of his contacts inside the Titan organization last Friday and asked how the workout went. He was told they were on their way back on the 'private jet'. Apparently they don't use the private jet for this kind of stuff on a regular basis. When asked why they used the PJ, the staff member told him that AAS went on the trip to meet Cam.

AAS knows she's made some mistakes (and taken some heat for it the past 2 years), but there's no doubt she's an owner that wants the team to succeed.

Titans have holes no doubt (hence the #1 pick), but they've made solid moves, IMO. OL was rebuilt with solid vets and RB were great last year. Our biggest hole is WR, where there isn't a solid WR2 or WR3. They'll either draft WR or EDGE with pick 35, depending on how the draft falls.
