Coming on in a few minutes...

http://wqam.com/interviews

- disappointed of what DK had to go through
- he's still shocked
- golden came by with staff yesterday AM
- barrow came back in the PM and met with Coach Harris privately
- they needed a earlier committed and DK didn't give it
- thought UM should have communicated that there was a deadline for DK to commit; disturb they didn't communicate deadline
- MT6 doesn't have a deadline to commit; can wait until NSD
- Coach Harris will meet with MT6 today more than likely to discuss his commitment
- MT6 and DK still wanted to go to school together before this went down
- Coach Harris states he understand the business side but disappointed by the lack of loyalty with the way things were dealt
- sounded like DK was a silent commit to UM but wanted to milk it through NSD
- Coach Harris and Barrow connected after this happened last night; they are good friends
- Coach Harris states that he needs to know what are the specifics of an offer; must commit by 1/1, 2/1 or NSD.
- Sounds like he still cool with UM; he thought DK had until NSD to commit

Now Harris is saying they didn't know Miami had a deadline for Kirkland to commit before the offer was pulled. Last night he said the staff told him they needed Kirkland to commit on the spot. Sounds like the story is changing.

Actually, Ice sounds pretty thoughtful. His position is that nobody told Denver that he had until yesterday to make his decision, until yesterday. He is frustrated, because they all thought the kid had until signing day. He never said that Denver was silent, but said that he was devestated.

I don't have any issue with Golden and the staff here. They asked him privately to commit. He could wait publicly but the staff didn't want to be left waiting at the altar if this kid picked another school. So they asked him privately to commit. When he said he would not the staff said they were moving on. I think it's a smart play by Golden and co. Waiting until signing day and ending up with nothing is exactly what got the previous two coaches fired.

I listened to the interview and I'm still not buying. There is something else going on. Very little of what Coach Harris said makes any sense under these circumstances. He's protecting the kid.

This crying butthurt is ******* retarded. Harris is making it sound like the staff killed Kirkland's dog or something. If he cared so much about being at Miami, he would have committed. If he wasn't into Miami enough to commit, why is it such a huge deal that he no longer has an offer there? Just go to one of the other 2 schools that were even with Miami and quit whining.

Sounds butt hurt about the situation. GROW UP its a process. You have been around for a while did you think Golden was going to put all his eggs in one basket when the kid hasn't made up his mind by now after months. Its business we got to do what we have to do. Ice lost a lot a points with me and Golden continues to impress me with how he is handling the situation. The U ain't gonna sit around for people no more. If your not serious about The U then move along.

If he was a silent, why didn't he just tell Barrow that he was coming?

Shenanigans man

I have an issue with it. Unless they had hard evidence the kid was going to ***** them over, you let a top 10 tackle at a feeder school who is tied at the hip with MT have until NSD to make a decision.

This is a PR nightmare.

They all should get together and still sort this out. That's what grown people do.

LOL if he was a silent, he would've told Barrow "I'll be a Cane on signing day" because, you know, that's exactly what a ******* silent is.

Not landing Denver Kirkland is not a big deal but not landing Matthew Thomas, Denver Kirkland, or a Chad Thomas is. I don't know what happened but this whole situation is fugged up.

It's a PR nightmare because due to NCAA regulation the staff cannot comment on the situation so you only get to hear one side of the story. If going to UM was so important to Harris and Kirkland then just PRIVATELY commit. You can still wait until signing day to play the hat game and have your fun. THE KID WAS NOT GOING TO SIGN WITH UM OR ELSE HE WOULD HAVE PRIVATELY COMMITTED.

I just think it was a communication breakdown. If you are giving someone a deadline to commit, give him a deadline. Deciding is a big decision, and I understandn we've been recruiting the kid for a year and he had plenty of time, but just tell him you need to know by a date certain. It sounds to me that he believed he had until signing day and wanted the weekend to think it over, and Barrow gave him a do or die last night. I'm not saying its wrong, particularly if we have other silents.

Listening to it my feeling is he understands the business side of recruiting, but he feels if UM was going to give Kirkland a deadline that was before NSD he needed to know that before Friday. It sounds like everyone agrees we need another landfill, just not in my backyard. This would be OK if it happened to someone else's player just not one of his. He did a very good job explaining what happened and didn't get emotional about it during the call

I don't agree I think it gives the community and the fans the same understanding of what Golden preached from the beginning "We will not let recruits dictate the process. We want kids that want to be here" plain and simple Ice Harris is butthurt for now he'll get over it. Not worried at all. If it means BIG 6 going somewhere else then so be it I don't want to force kids to come here if they don't want to.
