Tidbits from the fat man

I said this last year and it never happened as I recall, but I want to see some unbalanced line formations with this OL. Stick Bunche next to Flowers or Seantrel, depending on which side is the long side, pull the guard that way and run Duke right into that. Who is going to stop that?

i'm tellin y'all boys....we got an SEC, Stanford type OL(whatever that means)

i'm REAL high on these boys!!!

14-0

We talk about Bunche as a swing tackle or utility lineman...and lost in it...is he's just a really good lineman. He should be starting on our line. I know its tough when we got Seantrel, Ereck Flowers, The African Dream, and studs on the inside like Linder and Feliciano...but Bunche is just as good as the lot right now and he's only a junior and has projectable pro upside. He's got 20-games of game action, 12 consecutive starts...when you want to compete at the highest levels in CFB, having a line with a ton of starts, not only individually, but as a unit, is a nice indicator of potential success.

Flowers-Bunche-Linder-Feliciano-Seantrel

Linder isnt a center this his last year so i seriously doubt he will even try that with the NFL lookin

The African Dream is raw. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't redshirt.

Mark Whippy Whipple approves.

We have an embarrassment of riches on the OL. It's unbelievable to think how poor the OL was under Shannon to where it is now. If the offense stays healthy, they are going to put up insane numbers.

Shannon built this line. Every starter last year was Shannon recruits

Did Shannon "build" Arthur Brown as well? Recruiting and development are 2 completely different things

Shannon left Goldens a few decent pieces on offense for sure. Defense is a completely different story.

Again with the OL hype. This year does feel different though.

I'm going to wait until our line consistently dominates in the running game and in short yardage situations before I call them the best offensive line in college football.

Bunche is **** of an OLineman. We are talking about him not starting. That's one great problem to have. Truth is, Flowers and Henderson are special (1st round special), Linder and Feliciano are as good as they come as OG. McDermott is a good C. If this OL doesn't dominate the **** out of people their is something wrong. On paper this as good as an OL as you can have in college.

If this Oline struggles in short yardage, with a low-centered, high acceleration RB behind 'em, it's a matter of system and playcalls. There are 5 NFL linemen in the top 6.

Nothing to do with the OL coach?

Just because Whipple liked the formation doesn't mean anything to me. IIRC, that was one of the things Whipple was successful with. I feel like Chud used to utilize it as well. Not sure though.

I'm not saying to do it constantly, but I believe in putting your best players out there and if we have Bunche to use in a heavy formation where we're going to pound it then why not put him in there as the extra blocker instead of a TE?

I see him better at g as well. Bunche is very good, just think flowers and Henderson are better

I love the idea of this unbalanced OL on 1st and goal from the 10

+1 I want to see this line produce like the 2000-2001 OL did. I think this would be a good question for the mods to ask Kehoe, where does this line compare to those lines.

The 2001 OL had an Outland award winner and a future Rimington Award winner. I don't think we'll ever see another single unit as dominant as they were.
