So does anyone know his official status. I see him listed and talked about as a junior alot including the depth chart. But he's only a redshirt sophmore right?

If the rooster say he a sophomore than he probably a sophomores

Yeah just found it odd that everyone else on the depth chart seemed to be right but they always have Armbrister as a junior

He should be a junior

He played his freshman year

Did he play STs all year or just the first few games? If he only played a few games in the first half of the season and then suffered a season-ending injury, then they might have got him a RS. I do remember him playing STs though his first year, so they would have had to document an injury for him to get the RS.

He absolutely suffered a season ending injury after the second or third game of the season. He's a redshirt sophomore.

Jesus ******* christ, do I have to do everything around here?!

Well, OK, just one more thing. Thurston would not have been eligible for a "normal" redshirt because he played in at least one game. Maybe he could apply for an extra year on medical grounds, but I thought that had to be worked out in the future after the end of his regular eligibility. If that is correct (it may not be), then he is a junior with the possibility of perhaps eventually applying for an extra year of eligibility for medical reasons.

This is something that's been hashed and rehashed for centuries on internet message boards. I don't think anyone really knows what the **** is going on in this scary business of redshirting college athletes. My suggestion is to let the rooster do the talking. Redshirt sophomore.
