I trust Mario as a recruiter and know that if we win on the field this fall, the recruiting will sort itself out, but boy oh boy have the last few updates from Gaby been depressing.

A couple of three-star defensive linemen, yet another three-star slot receiver, meanwhile most of the top targets appear to be trending away from us.

Don't let us down, Cam!

Literally the same type spring/early summer position as last year...

And Wallace/Carter/and even Marcelin are highly rated 3 kids that are 4* are some sites.

"I trust Mario as a recruiter" yet I am going to start a ridiculous thread bashing his current recruiting.

The strategy seems to be to build with these types by getting them in early. The whales play the waiting game so you have to play it too.

There will likely be some attrition down the road, similar to Vincent Shavers last season. If there's an opportunity to sign an elite player that is currently committed to another school or weighing their options, this staff will make room.

I'm much more comfortable with the current staff's evaluations than the Diaz or Al Golden years. @JayCane20 referenced this the other day, but there have been plenty of 3-star signees from the '24 class that are showing promise. Pruitt, McConathy, and Frederique are just some of the guys CIS staff has referenced as players the staff really likes.

Let's see where where some of these 3-star players are ranked during the Signing Period too. Lightfoot was a 3-star player when he committed. He was a composite 5-star by the time he arrived to campus. That's not going to be the case with everyone, but there will be a few commits and targets that rise in the rankings.

Thank God y'all's golden goose gaby has such a great read on the state of the program... You on the other hand gotta simply commit. Either step off the ledge, or embrace it and jump already.

No idea what this is supposed to mean but I'll try to keep the faith for you.

Don't do it for me. Do it for your own sanity. You guys do the same thing each and every year no matter who the coach is when things aren't moving at y'all's pace. Difference would be Mario has proven how he moves. Just the same as Gaby has proven he is clueless about what's going on inside this program. That's consistency. If it's not enough than just do you

Not taking sides with OP but where did this myth that Lightfoot was a 3 star when he committed originate from? Not picking on you but I’ve seen it a couple of times. Lightfoot committed on 7/3/23 on 7/2/23 he was ranked as the 67th best player as a high 4 star in the country according to the composite and had only been listed as a 3 star on the composite when he got his first composite ranking on 4/6/22 as the 250th best player in the country according to composite.

Might be wrong, but I could've sworn this guy was a composite 3* when he committed. Guess not, but point being is that he really took the next step, especially after the AA game.

To quote the president, "C'mon man." We've seen this movie before. Many top dog recruits don't decide til later in the cycle. We are still in play with four 5 star kids (Griffin, Epenesa, Pickett and Ffrench), plus are trying to flip Solomon Thomas. We are also right there with another half a dozen blue chip 4 stars. Contrary to what some may think, there are scholarship limits and some blue chippers grow up rooting for teams other than the Canes.
Sit back and enjoy the ride - there's likely to be a few sweet surprises along the way.
