Thoughts on the first spring of the Richt era

How many of the 2015 guys don't belong? We took 6-kids in that class I believe.Out of 6-kids; only two/three at most belong here?

A lot can change in four years, so I hope these guys make me look bad for doubting them. But the early returns are concerning.

St. Louis and Gauthier will contribute and have the talent to be good. Milo has a chance but isn't there yet. Loftus and Jones are longshots. I'm not ready to write off Mahoney, but he needs to get a lot stronger and better.

There's one position that should be causing bubble guts for coaches and fans. And that's CB.

At the end of the day, if eligible, I don't see the staff passing on JC Jackson.

Not discrediting Pete. Just think the staff is playing it cool until things unfold a little more. /guessing

CJ Perry could possibly help at the FB position.
DMoney I thought the same thing. Has this been mentioned by anyone around the program or is this just speculating on your part (not flaming)? I think he would be a perfect fit if he has the balls for it.

He played rb/fb in highschool in addition to his lb role.

I would sell him on Myles Jack. I remember Perry's tape as a rb and it was legit. Kid though is a terror on specials....and looks to be in the 2nd team rotation at lb....but i cant go out there with Giordano or another walk on...need legit athletes there at that spot other than Herndon because it seems to be a position of use in Richt's offense

DT is one reason Golden had to go. He brought in a TON of talent there, but had them do nothing. It's like buying a Ferrari and using it to pull stumps. We have the best DT talent and depth that we've had in years, and finally, FINALLY it will be allowed to do something other than be blocking dummies.
If you're suffering from erectile dysfunction just go ahead and re-read those comments about DT. Problem will be solved.

good.webp

"That boy 'guud"!

Good work D$

I fully expect Bruce and Richards to assume big roles early on. Not so sure about Harris or Mullins but it's not like Lewis or Langham will be tough to surpass.

I've seen both Loftus and Jones several times over the last 12-months. Their problem is not a concern w/ strength (functional/physical strength), their problem is as simple as they lack the skill to play at a high level.

I get what you're saying though. Both of these kids are not even 21 yet. That being said, you can see it on the field. They just don't belong there.

Can't say it enough, thank the high heavens Stacy decided to come back...our WR depth is beyond putrid and depending on freshmen is always a tricky proposition. Corner depth is a abomination of epic proportions

Dmoney what do you know about Patchan injury? Haven't seen anything official on it.
And how was he progressing before the injury.

Thanks

WR is one of the easiest positions to come in and play as a Freshman. As long as Stacy is health (big if) WR doesn't worry me at all.

I believe he's out for the year but don't know for sure. He was progressing well so it was very disappointing.

People should quit whining about WR. That position will transform instantly in the fall with 4 new talented players.

and the OL.

No, sir. OL is fine.

The 2 biggest differences in the OL that makes me feel the same about the unit as you: Shedding the bad weight in the offseason will go a long way & 25 combined starts as a whole unit going into last year compared to anywhere from 80-100 going into this year. Huge difference there.

Exactly how I see it along with a better OL coach and an infinitely better playcaller.

Look at McDermott as Exhibit A. He looked like a sloppy pile of pre-diabetic **** last year. This year, he already looks like a completely new man. I think he's down 25 pounds, and his whole body looks re-distributed.

the first unit is likely to be serviceable and you are right with a better play caller it should shield some of the weaknesses. to be specific, i am very concerned about the next unit and the one after that. certainly there will be some injuries on the OL as there is every year and i do not have much confidence in those two units.

let's pray for health

If any college team gets to its 3rd team OL they're sunk. We have two starters coming back for the fall in Linder and Sunny to go with the guys who did well this spring. We're good.

Save your sweat for the deplorable situation at CB because I don't see any help on the horizon.

We need a capable body there bad ! Especially with more spread teams coming into the coastal. Idk what they were talking about during the spring practice interviews when they said they gotta evaluate what's the position of most need CB, WR, or FB

Yeah. When Richt mentioned FB in the same sentence as CB I almost **** my drawlz. It would be nice to add another FB. It's absolutely imperative to add a CB.

Unfortunately, if they've rebuked JC Jackson then there's nothing out there. Maybe that dude Echols from Texas is still available?
