Following 1999 season which had ups & downs

We faced a dynamic QB in Joe Hamilton & a Ga Tech team that played a weak schedule

I remember how important that bowl game was to me, how i wanted so badly to beat a quality team & not just big east cupcakes

We won & that offseason was so great. FSU won the national title & i didnt care cuz i knew we were a bit behind them but were young & had talent

If we beat Louisville i will feel so, so much better. But not a 45-42 win, i want to see actual defensive improvement. I want a 28-17 victory or something like that

Just feels like December 1999 in so many ways (even though that game was played on jan 1)

Thoughts?

I agree.....................but I would take the 45-42 win. I just don't see how the defense could improve that much so quickly against a QB like Teddy. I'm just praying for a win and defensive improvements during the offseason..

Agreed. A night/day difference in defensive performance might be asking for much. I hope to see improvement from the young guys and the solidifying of depth more than anything else -- Kamalu, King, Moore, Hamilton, Artie, Jamal, Kirby, Jermaine, etc. need to show that they can out-play Highsmith, Rodgers, Cornelius, Gaines). With that said, I'd take 45-42 or any other W for that matter.

'99 comparison is fair! History sure does repeat itself, doesn't it?

The defense is going to get shredded. We can win, but it will look nothing like beating GT's *** in the Gator Bowl.

Doritos got a month to make preparations on how to slow down that O

If he can't with that much time stop one offense that's the icing on cake for me to fire his ***

I agree. Louisville is not capable of playing a complete game.... haven't seen it yet this year. I think Miami will win.

We can win but I truly think we need to score 35 or more points to do so.

We have not played a complete game either. However, I believe we can win... We need to force more 3-and-outs to increase our chances of winning. If we can do that, it would be 3-fold: 1) it keeps our D off the field, 2) it will flip field position in our favor and 3) it gives Coley more opportunities to add to his highlight film.

Not really. We were favored in that '99 game and I expected to win. I was excited to see Dorsey in person after spending all season in Las Vegas. I flew to Miami and drove up to Jacksonville several days before the game with my parents.

This time I am not confident. Louisville was preseason Top 10 and the -3 opening spread seemed light.

Actually, the thing I remember most about that '99 game was I left a friend of mine $5000 to bet hockey for me while I was gone. I'd call a number in late afternoon every day and he'd leave a recording with our bets for that night, including the specific puck line and money line. Then I'd sweat the games on my sports ticker at night. The guy actually apologized for a profit when I returned. We won but not at the pace he had been on. I had to laugh. I gave him a nice tip. At that Gator Bowl I remember I sweated several other games that we're going on simultaneously, including a wild comeback by Georgia to beat Purdue. Somehow a Big 10 team was double digit favorite over an SEC team. Seems impossible today.
