like this in a few years?
db coach--ed reed
wr's--a. johnson or r. wayne
rb's--mcgahee or gore
qb--dorsey
te--shockey
oline--kehoe or winston
dline--k. patrick
lbs--vilma
head coach--ray lewis
dc--barrow
oc--maybe mario

i'm sure there are a few other spots for a couple of big time recruiting canes/coaches.
anyway, just dreamin. would love a staff just of former enthusiastic former canes who don't want to be anywhere else and don't need to be the highest paid coach.

could you imagine r. lewis leading the team on the field and giving the team his pregame speech on the field like he does w/ the ravens?

All because they were all extremely talented in their respected position doesn't mean they can coach, but i am sure that would be amazing for recruiting.. I really do think Ed Reed would be one **** of a coach, he just demands respect, and he knows how to communicate..

i was trying to pick guys who i think would be good coaches or have expressed interest in coaching.
not sure a. johnson would be a great coach. or gore. or shockey. i think reed and r. lewis would be. winston i think came from father who coached. barrow. dorsey. mario.
just was dreaming of former canes who would be enthusiastic about UM football and recruiting and selling the program.
i'm sure there are others qualified.
just day dreaming.

OP some of those guys are black. Would u be OK with that considering your feelings towards non-whites?

gooby, i wouldn't say "rarely". like i said, i don't think gore or shockey or a. johnson have it in them. i could be wrong. and i'd sacrifice a little coaching ability for recruiting ability.
nostalgia is all we got here. as much as others want to disagree, some kids remember or have heard about the canes of old and come for that reason.

Why do some idiots continue to believe that just because some dude is a great player, he has a clue how to be a good coach, let alone a decent human being?

Great players rarely make great coaches. Right now, as a program, nostalgia is our enemy.

Thank you. I would gladly ditch the past for a bright future. Enough with promoting inexperienced ex-players as coaches.

I don't think we have to ditch the past for a bright future. Al and company are building something special in CG. Enjoy the ride, Dandy Don!

dandy, i didn't say that. read my post. some do, some don't. you don't think r. lewis could be a great lb coach? or ed reed a db coach?
i don't think shockey or gore or johnson have the mentality to be great coaches.
you can be an idiot and not read well.
it was day dreaming, nothing more. relax.

i said it would never happen.
some of those guys will go on and coach at some level. some wont.
al golden isn't gonna be here forever. i hope its awhile, but, its not his last job.

Allstar team does not equal great team of coaches.

very rarely do you see great players becoming great coaches.
