This was a good thing

bg534 I appreciate you sharing the real history of our relationship with BTW. Some of that stuff I had heard, but other parts of it I had not heard. I stand corrected then - not a feeder school. What you say actually makes what transpired make even more sense now. Basically, as you say, ICE is taking advantage of us or is attempting to. Learning this makes me wonder if he has been pushing Thomas to the noles.

I'm not an insider, just trying to apply a little logic to the situation. This late in the game, EVERY program needs to know who they have within a reasonable level of certainty, which means that if you're not a Mathew Thomas caliber player they need a direct answer from you about your intentions. Everyone on here probably figured out that some of the remaining players have already told our coaches they are Canes. Denver apparently did not commit when he was asked to or when perhaps he had previously agreed that he would, and someone we really wanted, wanted in this class and has committed to our coaches. So to my thinking we do not pull his scholarship unless he does not have the grades or we needed it to give to someone who we need who gave us a solid commitment.

The men running our program now are not amateurs. They know full well that Thomas and Denver were teammates, and they know that Chad Thomas is on deck. They can not come out and say what went down, but common sense tells us that most likely Denver's stumble is self-inflicted - either grades or waffling with too much on the line.

One last thing, for those of you who say Denver wanted his moment in the spotlight with all the suspense, please realize that the need to know information is different between fans and coaches. Denver could have still had all the suspense in the world and the spotlight while being a silent commitment to us. However, as a program - especially this year - we can't go into the final stretch with too many uncertainties.

Kinda hurts because I see BTW as sort of an extension of our program, but again based on what I've read so far I feel this falls in Denver's lap.

I feel you, but I feel that BTW has been duplicitous with us for a while, at least I feel that way in light of recent events that have caused me to reevaluate our history with each other since 2008.

- In order to get Brandon Harris here, we had to offer his dad (Ice Harris) a job. We have no way of knowing whether or not Brandon Harris would have come without the job offer to his father, but it seems likely that it was some kind of under the table dealing.

- In either 2009 or 2010 (can't remember), BTW players Quinton Dunbar and Lynden Trail committed to us publicly without a legitimate offer, a situation later addressed by Randy Shannon publicly. These kids used the exposure they gained by their fake commitment to us to eventually sign with Florida.

- We haven't had a big time player from BTW sign with us since Brandon Harris.

My guess is, Golden and crew knew about this history and had to set Ice Harris straight, in order to let him know that we will not be played the same way UM coaches have been in the past. BTW has received tremendous local support from pretending to be a feeder school to the Hurricanes, despite all evidence to the contrary. Ice Harris has been using us as a stepping stone for both his career and the exposure of his kids, and the **** has to stop.

Now homeboy is out there pretending he has always been a friend again and this **** is just happening unprovoked.
