I like how some are ripping the deficiencies of this team as if they're shocked we have them. Bottom line is this team is improved and is on the right path. That said, we're nowhere near ready for prime time and anyone who thought so drank too much Kool Aid. Whatever happens happens in Tallahassee. I think the boys will surprise and play well. I'm not predicting a win but no matter what this program is on the rise. Just like 1999.

We were never ever in the same galaxy in terms of talent compared to the 2000 team. To be honest with you, I'm not sure this team is even 99. We are overachievers, we were projected as an 8/9 win team. It's all good cause I'll take being an overachiever over losing any day.

I was actually thinking about this. If we're making those comparisons, yeah, this is more like '99, with the big difference that we're playing an easier schedule this year, and we didn't blow a game like we did against ECU.
 
99 team had a brutal schedule and ended with the emergence of Dorsey. Everything was primed for a run in 2000, after 2 monster recruiting classes in Feb 99 & 00. If we're lucky, we'll be at that level in 2015, but the talent on this team is just too young right now, and a QB has not emerged. I know people want to compare with our past teams, but I'd say 98 is a better comp. Question is can we get some absolute monsters in the next couple of classes (Dre, Portis, Buchanon, Dorsey in 99 and Shockey, DJ, Vilma, and Mcgahee in 2000)?

so we're going 9-4 this year?? No I dont think so. This team is going to be more similar in record to the 2000 team that went 11-1. Next year we will be VERY good. Especially if guys like Chickillo, Perryman, Pierre, Dorsett, Ray Scott, etc come back for their senior season. Hopefully Ryan Williams can serve as our Ken Dorsey for a season.
 
We need more speed on defense both safeties need it bad............ we miss dorsett badly need more more speed all around.......... Wr corp lacks a go to guy. Duke better rest this week we're gonna need him big time............we're fine ROME wasn't built in one night I'm in bumps and bruises till the last man I'm standing with the U!!!

This. We beat a highly rated UCLA team that year but got blown out by Syracuse. Scott Covington was our QB. We were inconsistent that year pretty much how we are now.

Please. First time this yr we the 99 canes. Between 05-12 I was embarrassed most of the time during out losses. 99 team I only got embarrassed during that ecu game. The rest I expected us to lose. This is an improvement. We will be serious In the coming yrs.
