This Morris kid

Earth the ****** Cane fans, QB's MISS PASSES. THEY ALL DO.

Your mind set is also false. We stalled in the middle of the game because he missed hitable passes. He was miles off on some routine slants. He also misses some passes because he tries to gun everything and doesn't know when to take a little off the throw and place it with a little more touch.

As another poster stated it was the most frustrating 400+ yard game I've ever seen.

But that's a good problem to have.

Aaron Rodgers missed some hitable passes yesterday... pretty sure he has more than 8-9 career starts.. wonder what's wrong with him.

No difference if the QB misses by a foot or 10 feet. Morris is an enigma, sometimes brilliant, sometime you are left mumbling WTF. He's a work in progress, hopefully he continues to improve and grow as a QB. We can't win if he doesn't play well.

He needs to improve and grow, but we can't treat him as if he's had 2 years of solid experience under his belt and he's still playing like an inexperience QB.

To start off, I agree with the bolded part 100%. This team, at least on the offensive side of the ball, will go as he goes. We ALL have to remember he did not come in here as a polished, top-level quarterback recruit. He wasn't even our first choice at QB the year we signed him. He was brought in as a project that had some great tools. He was supposed to redshirt a year, and then sit another behind Jacory before playing. He never got the opportunity to sit and learn his first year here. This really should be his Sophomre year, and it should be the first action he's seeing. We're lucky he has experience becuase, whle it cost him a year, IHMOP it helped him grow, but we need to cut him some slack when judging his play. I'll worry if he's making these mistakes at the end of the year, but in a perfect world he might not even be playing yet. His upside is as significant as any QB we've had in a long time.

Dude there were a number of passes that our kicker would have come closer to completing and I say that because these were easy pitch and catch routes with open receivers. Morris ended up with great stats and credit for the win but in those stats were our WRs really having to make the play on several occasions. The misses he had could have cost us this game and actually it didn't need to be the close win that it was. If he doesn't improve and soon, we will be pinning a couple of losses on him alone. Thank you Mike James even though you didn't get the credit you deserve.

And there were also some passes he made that only QB's playing on Sundays would have made.
It goes both ways. The net result of Morris's game was the 2nd most yards by a Canes QB since Toretta. Let that sink in for a second.

Whoever is not sold and is all in on Morris can be described as being a blatant ******.

Then call me a full blown blatant ****** because I am far from sold. If he was missing big league throws then I would just shrug it off but these are JV to peewee league passes and they aren't even close. I can't even chalk it up to game experience because its not like he is progressing through reads. He is missing primary routes at 5 to 7 yards and bad. Easy pitch and catch stuff. I will continue to hope for the best and fear the worst.

I'm at a point with morris that i don't fear every throw.....every time jacory let one go i knew it was 50/50 it could be caught by a cane or the defender.. Morris is not perfect in this regard, but every time he throws one i'm not thinking ..."wonder who is going to come down with it"

The main problem with morris is his footwork when he throws. Watch most of his errant passes and it was because of his feet. The follow-on thing with morris that bothers me is going through his progressions, 85% of his completions were to his primary WR or on a hot route. Some of this can be attributed to GT's defense but I think it will be a concern against ND and FSU. I love his upsdie and i think he will be a stud for the last few games of this year and all of next year.

Think back to the likes of Freeman, Wright, and for a couple years Harris. Heck for a couple games Highsmith was playing QB. Now nominate who you would want the QB to be. The reality is he is the best we have and probably the best we have had in a while. The reality is we have not attracted top QB talent for several years. We could not even land Brisett who instead went to play backup at Florida. No stud QB has wanted to play here. We are lucky if Olsen keeps his word. So as far as Morris goes, is he perfect - no. Can he improve - yes in many areas. Enjoy what we have. He probably will get better. But he is never going to become the QB some of you want him to be. An improved Morris is miles ahead of anything we have seen for a decade now. And an improved Morris is enough to win an ACC championship which we have never done. We all need controlled expectations.

That's all I'm sayin'.

Go read the gameday thread to get opinions of his play last week. He missed at least ten throws that there are no excuse for.

I think he needs to get faster at his reads and get rid of the ball faster. That would give the recievers a better chance of getting YAC.

Of course it is his footwork and stepping into the throw. When he came out against B.C. his footwork was solid and it showed. Then he got smacked in the mouth and we now have another Wright running around except Wright was more accurate. If he doesn't settle down, grow a pair to improve his pocket presence, then like it or not we are screwed with our future schedule.

If that were the case he would have finished up 41-52. That would be a 78% completion rate while throwing 52 passes. Sorry but it is just not going to happen. Again these are unrealistic expectations.

So making poor throws are mitigated? No excuse for making bad throws
