This is Painful

It's been a long time since 2008 when we closed really strong.
We didn't get the results we wanted but I haven't had that feeling on NSD since.
3 more frickin' days.

This isn't painful, it's exciting.

Previous years with Golden in charge you basically waited for the hammer to drop on NSD.

Now with a proven guy like Richt in charge I'm excited to see who he can pull in to this class. We've had tons of positive news / commits since he's been in post. NSD should be fun.

For every Stacy Coley we got on signing day, we lost so many important recruits it was hard to feel good. I think those days are behind us.

Painful?
perhaps some fans who wants a certain player in our class and it doesn't pan out.
I only care about every young man who sends his LOI to UM offices on feb 3rd and beyond.
Those are true ones who made a commitment to UM and those are the ones im going to support.
Win or lose!

Take the patience that you demonstrate when waiting for Bigfoot in the wilderness, and apply it to this situation.

I figure tonight should be pretty eventful. At least with tyreic Martin if anyone

And the ol Johnson too

Johnson is announcing on Twitter Monday according to a CS interview. He said 70% Miami.

90% of this crootin' stuff is half mental.

90% of something is half? Hmmm :topsy_turvy:

:monkey-serious:

Not sure about this year my man but I think Golden was the type of cornball guys loved to embarrass on tv. Richt being a religious guy, a more respected man in general, I just don't think we see that level of attempts to embarrass us.

2016 is tough to call but 2017 is going to be a program changing class IMO

This recruiting class will not define Miami over the next 3-5 years. The 2017 and 2018 gets are the indicators of up or down.

Al folden explaining how he got all his cookies jacked from him on signing day on the joe rose show and acting like he got who he wanted is truely painful

That last weekend every year, having to wait another couple days, is just . . . painful.

Nobody knows diddly, really no noise on how visits are going, not even any degree of certainty as to who showed up.

To make this even worse, the Golden years were a real crapshoot. We got some hardcore UM local talent, aka Duke etc., but every year Golden continued, we became more and more diluted in the recruiting game.

We gotta let the dogs off the chain this year. Got to.

Even the Jimmy Johnson years were a crapshoot. I remember so many last second breathless moments, and some real disappointments. Like when we tried to turn Sterling Palmer at the end...the first year, when we lost all those Illinois studs at the last minute to Bob Karmelowicz and the Illini. Eric Metcalf who decided to go to Texas over us..these were kids we wanted badly and thought we had locked up.

Actually, more commitments are firmed up well before NSD, unlike previous years. So many announce at the all star games, want their own press conferences (preferably on ESPN), etc. Attention hogs and drama queens. This year has more of a 1980's feel, with a lot of unknowns until the very end. That is, in part, because this class has been put together a little late because of Richt's late start.

This is the period that we used to call the "Fog of War," where nothing makes sense, you don't know what is going on. I'm pretty sure we know who is going to be most of the class. Just a few intrigues. The bags that are going to pass hands (only from other programs) have already passed. Cars are bought, aunts and uncles paid off, etc. It's pretty much water under the bridge...or money under the table.

D,
JHall is right. Those miserable NSDs are behind us but you have to understand that this is a transitional class and recruits haven't had the benefit of seeing this staffs work on the field at UM. If this staff puts a great product on the field or shows strong evidence of doing so soon then we will reap the rewards on future NSDs. That being said, this transitional class by Richt has been impressive and is already head and shoulders above the Mendoza line type efforts we were getting from Gluten.
