For those that keep thinking this is just a 5 game losing streak, think again. Since a February 3 win vs VT:

Loss by 22 vs UVA
Loss by 3 vs UNC
Loss by 17 vs clemson
Loss by 8 vs BC
Loss by 29 vs duke
Loss by 4 vs GT
Loss by 5 vs UNC
Loss by 10 vs BC
Loss by 8 vs FSU
Loss by 16 vs BC

Thats 10 straight losses to close out last season.

We then beat up on 3 total cupcakes (sub 300 teams) to start this season. Since then, we’ve lost 5 more. We’ve now lost 13 straight to P4 opponents, and managed a loss to sub 300 Charleston Southern to boot. We have gone TEN MONTHS without a win vs a team with a pulse.

This is not just a bad stretch, it’s an absolute collapse. We are in free fall mode. It’s unfathomable that we went from our highest point in program history to this in just ~18 months.

I hear ya and would usually agree to these sort of comparisons. However, only 2 players off last year's team that logged any kind of minutes are on this year's team, and both those guys have already missed games due to injury. We've got 7-8 new guys playing this year that were wearing a different jersey last year. Tough to stick last year's losing streak to this year. I know it sucks how things ended last season, but one really doesn't have anything to do with the other. The 2024-2025 team has to own up to this currently losing streak, but I'm not pinning any losing from last year to this team.

No question that we're in a terrible rut right now heading into our conference opener. Bottom line is this team needs to figure things out, and quick, or this current 5 game losing streak will be the least of their concerns.

Only comparison I will make from this year to last year is the coaching staff. And as bad as last season was, how many times have we seen a Coach L team play its best basketball in the first month? The man has a track record for having his teams playing their best ball in February and March. There is some talent on this team, so I'm holding out hope that is will also be the case this year as well.

GO CANES!!!

I respectfully disagree. In this day and age with the portal and NIL, significant roster turnover happens quite frequently. It is not an excuse for poor performance. And while the majority of these guys are new, a lot of the same issues from last year have carried over to this team - atrocious defense, poor rebounding, lack of consistent offensive flow, questionable rotations and lineups, and questionable effort at times from certain players.

Are you really that surprised? The big 3 of football, basketball and baseball are all a joke! Yeah, Mario won 10 games against a weak schedule and too many close games, Coach L should be Coach Lost It, and JD Arteaga is a disaster as baseball coach. At least the women's basketball team is doing well (for now anyway)

We went from not enough players last year to too many this year. Let's also not forget Huie comes back. I posted at the beginning of the season about logjams.

There seems to be consecutive years of questionable effort. That's on the staff. Throw in L's inability to manage both rosters (famine or feast) and here we are

What an year to f0k everything up... in both sports that mean anything ..
Total ineptitude brings us to this.

You’re absolutely correct-

It’s an absolute disgrace -

What’s your opinion on local recruiting?

I realize we’re not going to get the Boozer brothers but, it hasn’t been good-

We do have Matthew Able committed from Sagemont Prep in Weston-He’s 64th in the ratings

This team is headed toward 20 losses-

They won’t fire Larranaga but, if the season goes historically bad-They have to consider it

The inconsistency in the program is mind boggling.

The only common denominator from last year to this year is the coaching staff. I know a popular response to this is Coach L didn't forget how to coach. I guess neither did Don Shula. But maybe his ability to connect with this generation of players and NIL is out of whack.

We assume that NIL and the transfer portal are just new factors but they actually represent a paradigm shift. And I think the older you are the less likely you are to make a smooth transition.

Not saying Coach L is too old or anything like that but he may not be dealing with this shift as easily as others have. Maybe its scouting.

Either way losing this many P5 games is something to be seriously concerned about.

I wish I could say When L is pushed out, or retires, this administration would make a good proven type Head Coach Hire.
Coach L was a real good hire and he wasn't on any of our discussed potential coaches list. Rad, however, didn't make that hire. He did hire the women's basketball coach though. So who knows...
