This guy writes GREAT stuff.....

I am quite sure that what is stated for public consumption and what is said in the privacy of the locker room are two different things. Al knows better than any of us the short comings of the this team, but is not going to throw his players or coaches under the bus, that would be classless. Changes will be made in a judicious way, not how we might prefer.

Many have said we should have changed our schemes ( Which I don't care for) to meet our current players abilities. That I am sure would have won us a couple of games perhaps, but that approach is short sighted and will only serve to delay our long term goals. We simply do not have the talent on defense that we need to be elite. Not only have we've lacked talent, we also have had a dearth of leadership. Their have been no Ed Reeds or Ken Dorsey's . Though we may seem to be in a crisis situation, it is those type situation that leaders are forged.

When Al gets all his recruits in, then we will have a clearer picture of the direction of the program. Then it will be put up or shut up time.

But he does throw the players under the bus. That is the point. It is only HIS coaches that are not throw under the bus. Heck, he pitched Duke Johnson under the bus for 2 goal line fumbles when the kid had only fumbled once since he stepped on campus. Duke took like the man he is. Mark and the defensives staff have given up more 500 yards game this year than Duke fumbled and not no coach skin flawed. I have support Al though all but his throwing players under the bus while coaches, especially friends get a free ride is changing my mind.

When I was a young kid, I worked with my dad in a grocery store. One thing Dad made clear to my was that I had to be better, work harder and never ever ***** up because I was his son. I was held to a much hirer standard than any other worker there. Al should have applied that to Mark. No slack for your BFF--none. It can be no other way. His has lost this team because he played favorites like Randy did. Only it is his BFF not a player. At fault or not, Mark has to be fired because he IS Al's BFF. It is that simple. Nobody believes he would still be here if he was just some dude Al hired.

Looks like a strong recap of the discussions on the board. I like the insight he added at the beginning by placing it all under the context of lowered expectations and biased judgments. That was unique.

I didn't read all of that ****.. but if the expectation was for golden to come in here and be 30 - 4 at this point, Vish is way off base. Also, just comparing stars doesn't tell the whole story. VT has a defense that may not be extravagant when it comes to star players, but those guys are recruited into a system that his been in place for YEARS... VT needs to find guys that fit their system and will play well within that system.. stars still matter.. but that's why they seem to always have a couple of less heralded guys ball out.. VT knows exactly what they're looking for..

As far as replacing the underperforming talent, I don't think it's possible to do that with 2 recruiting classes, unless you want to lean on freshmen and sophomores very heavily, which would provide good experience, but probably equally bad results.

Not gonna cut it:

My favorite part of the article:

There should not be a lowering of expectations because the Canes blew an opportunity to win the Coastal this year. One year’s underperformance leading to the lowering of expectations of the next year is how mediocrity sets in. This year was the year to win the Coastal, as a stepping stone to win the ACC in 2014. Now, 2014 should still be the year that the Canes are players at the top of the ACC, not a step (or several steps) down from FSU and Clemson.

The basic gist of his article/post is that we have better talent than what they currently look like and there isn't a trend or evidence of outperforming "good" teams. The unique angle was that he talked about it in the context of "if we hadn't sucked for the last 10 years, would this be ok?" It's at least a good discussion point.

Winning couple more games this season could have been huge. So don't underestimate the value if this would have happened. Imagine the effect winning two more games could have had on the season, the fan base and more importantly the players morale, which I can tell you that it is low at this time. And why changing the long term defensive philosophy to one you normally don't prefer to suit your current personnel such a bad thing?
I am all for giving AG more time to get this thing fixed. But I don't agree to sticking to your favorite defensive philosophy when it's obviously not working at this time.

I don't even think that was unique. But it was a good article because it was everything most of the smart guys have been discussing for a couple weeks.

It's ironic that a couple weeks ago i make a thread about firing D'onofrio b/c of the standard that has been set at Miami.....

Since i'm thinking so far ahead, a lot of yall cant accept the information i'm bestowing and try to hate like i'm trippin. Thread gets locked, zone is crazy. Now a guy makes an article basically about the same thing but w/ more words..... Talking about standards, when zone was talking about standards the site couldnt handle it. Now it's ok, see i fall on that sword so this place can prosper. I'm like CIS's Jesus. I Forgive You.

Al I still have some hope in...his defensive staff/scheme, NO
Dorito must go..that is all. I am not sold he can make it happen.

Talent / intensity / IQ / scheme all work together, and affect each other in the mix. I simply can't believe we have stupid players, starters who absolutely stink, a scheme that can't be made executable with what you have, or players who don't play hard even though it looks that way at times when chunks of yards are given up play after play.

The clueless fire drill I witnessed on the field the past 2 games has to be scheme made too complicated for the IQ & talent at hand, and tentative players giving up to the futility of it all not working (inevitable collapse in both games) that gives way to a disheartened tackling display (or vice versa).

I expect the coach to adjust accordingly, quickly, in macro fitting a concept and micro during games. It's on Dorito, and ultimately Al.

This is the same **** Golden did at Temple.

He beat the bad teams and lost to the good teams.

And thats when he had "talent" in Temple. Who cares if he has talent here or not.

He is what he is.

He beat a BCS bound UCONN in his last year at Temple.
