This defense is so bad

Well Toledo had 205 TY 1-13 on 3D 1 TO and 20 min TOP, so we are Toledo on offense?

Did you watch the playcalling in that game. You know the playcalling where we went ultra conservative as if we had a 45 point lead in the 4th quarter and didnt care if we could move the ball. Where we continually ran the same play over and over into the same defender who had just stuffed it 2 plays before.

In the last 2 years we've held ONE ACC offense under 400 yards.

That was Wake Forest this year, for 361 yards. it's almost unbelievable.

We're just not executing.

We need to progress through the process, for progressive progressions, perpetually, personally, and professionally, in perpetuity.
No man, the problem is we clearly have too many coal shovelers not shoveling enough coal.

Defense looks day and night compared to the first games of the season and it´s not beause of the teams we played early. Regardless of the opponents we played aggressively on D the first third of the season. The GT game was the first game where it kind of shifted but they came on in the second half.

From there on they were unable to fulfill the most obvious gameplan. The D was not able to tackle well (example the missed tackle on the tarheels tight end on the td run, we also had no real pass rush vs. NC), we couldn´t cover Campanero vs. Wake Forest their only playmaker, and vs. F$u a lot of things happened and against VT they looked lost in so many ways. Maybe the depth chart is still a reason for some of that, the time of possession does not help eihter, because the first couple of games it looked like our team was always better conditioned than the opponent but for which reasons whatsoever it`s obvious that they are not built to play on that level a whole season with this roster. Hopefully they gather all their energy and focus for the last games and Coach D gives them a chance to win those cause it could get ugly otherwise.

For those of you who need a specific example of why Donofrio is an imbecile, look no further. Dorito had Cornelius on Campanero from the get and sat and watched as Wake used Campanero to convert one third down after another by torching a helpless Cornelius for over 3 quarters until it finally occured to him to put a CB on Wake's only offensive threat. The guy is a bufoon.

What's even worst is that our D allowed Loeffler offense coord(former Auburn OC last year) gouge us. Auburn was lifeless under this OC. I have no expectations for the rest of the year. Just try to outscore teams I guess.

That usually works better with a good QB and OC

There was one series when Virginia Tech got a holding penalty to make it 1st and 20. That still wasn't fair.

The date of the Florida game gave us a chance. I remember posting that several times in the offseason, even though I still wasn't confident of victory. The weaker more fragile team and defense needed to be at home and early in the season. You are still confident and energized at point, not beat up physically or mentally. In short, you can hide weaknesses. As poorly as Florida is playing right now, they could easily show up at Sun Life and rejuvenate immediately as soon as they realized that basic plays would waltz downfield.

The mistake that always shows up is to project in the wrong direction. Once we overachieved on defense against Florida the theme was that we would improve as the season extended. Meanwhile, we still had nothing at defensive tackle and we're relying on stop gap players who would not be out there if the program were in full flight. It reminded me of the previous Florida game, when we played well on defense for 3 quarters despite the lopsided final score. All of a sudden Canes boards were claiming a terrific defense that would dominate the ACC.

I kept expecting the team would play back toward the #27 preseason rating. It's happened. That's where we belong at this stage.

So by your logic the offense can only be bad if we lose.
The one touchdown Florida had in the red zone was a gift, set up by a blocked punt in the first quarter. The other Florida trips deep into Miami territory ended thusly:

• Interception by Rayshawn Jenkins.

• Stopped on downs by Denzel Perryman and Olsen Pierre.

• Fumble by Trey Burton that was forced by Jimmy Gaines.

• Field goal

• Interception by Tracy Howard.

I'm pretty sure the defense kept it from being a blowout loss.

AFTER they walked down the field, and got in the red zone short field.

They moved the ball, pretty much at will.
