Things I want to see from Duke game

I want to see us do everything to him that he made zero adjustments for while he was here…

Draws
RB screens
Counters
Crossing patterns

450 yards of total offense please.

I’d like to see us come into this game knowing and game planning for the heavy blitzing. If not it’s a failure by Dawson.
we should be able to neutralize the blitz and still scheme up a few max protect shots, misdirections, etc on top of an effective run/RPO game

Forcing a few turnovers would be great. We have this all world DL. Have we forced a single strip sack yet in 8 games? Against a real school. I don’t recall any. Whip somebody flat off the ball and bury your helmet in Murphy’s chest and make that football shoot outta there at high velocity. How many short field TD drives do we have? Zero? Louisville had 2 cheap TDs. Cal did. VT did. This offense is so good, we’ve been saying all year the defense just needs to play complementary football. Just one turnover deep in their end can open the floodgates. If the defense is gonna allow explosives, they gotta force some too.
This right here, we got the one against lville and that was the difference in the game against what's probably the best team we've played, we want to win anything meaningful we really need 1-2 of those a game vs the top teams

F it. I hope we break out the turnover chain just for one game. I hated that thing after the first year, and I hated Manny for trying to keep it going. Maybe a turnover chain with Manny's face on it?

Things I want to see outside of the W.

1. Protect Cam. OL pass protection has been slipping. It is a combination of poor communication allowing late blitzes to get through and then just flat out getting beat. On the second sack of the FSU game, Francis had to block two guys. You always take the inside guy in that situation. He decided to block no one. Cam can escape one guy, hard for him to escape two. That simply should not happen this late in season. 78 got absolutely manhandled on the last sack against FSU. Do better! Protect your QB. So this poses an interesting challenge. Duke is top 10 in sacks with 3 a game. I want to see no more then one sack allowed. And I do not want to see Cam running around the pocket like he was last game. That was annoying and we should be better then that. Otherwise I count that as a loss and a sign of a serious problem that better teams will take advantage of.

2. The Heisman campaign has officially started. I need to see a 3 or 4 TD performance from Cam. If that means taking a short TD run off the board, then go with it. We have been waiting all year for the play action fake with 9 lined up at FB. With Manny's overly aggressive defense, I think we see a 2 yard TD to Lofton this game of the PA. Get up early and let Cam eat. Let's get his trophy!

3. Duke has the 108th ranked offense in the country. We better make them look like the 108th offense in the country. We need blood for the last time they came to Hard Rock and embarrassed us. They are terrible on 3rd down and even worse on 4th. I want another solid performance against a sorry offense (see FSU). Let's build some momentum on the defensive side of the ball. It is astonishing we have the 13th ranked defense in the country. But we need to be better and we better play better this game.

4. Win the turnover battle. This statistic is the only possible way for Duke to stay in game. They are second in turnovers gained. We are awful. How we did not get one pick against those sorry FSU QB's is remarkable. We need to flip the script in this game. I want to see one pick and one fumble recovery and zero turnovers on our side.

Go Canes!
Nice!!

If Duke’s game plan is similar to FSU’s I would like to see Dawson adapt the passing game rather than just run the ball up Duke’s gut. I get an agree with the “take with the defense gives you” philosophy, but you can’t tell me there’s nothing open, pun intended, for Ward throwing the ball. The tight ends and running backs involve more. But then I’m not an offensive coordinator so what do I know?

For fun I wouldn’t mind a third and goal play action pass for a TD to a wide open CiCi as an eligible receiver.

Do not make Malik Murphy a Heisman candidate....

Barron with 2 sacks
TE’s involved in the passing game
Jet sweep would be interesting
Everyone to block someone in pass protection
Defense to dominate
Get some turnovers

I want Cam to win the ******* Heisman, so I want Cam to throw for at least 350 yards and at least 3 tds. We can't get him this close to then "take what the defense gives us"....we're the #1 offense in the country and should dictate how the game goes unless it's actually going to lose us the game.

Cam winning the Heisman would be such a massive deal for the school and for Mario's reputation, it needs to happen.

At that point you are bordering on "getting cute". If they drop back into coverage and are giving you 7-8 yards a carry, you take it. I get it, we all want to see Ward win the Heisman. However, what we should all want even more is convincing Ws.

Remember, this is the same Manny Diaz who gave up a record amount of rushing yards for two different schools. You might just get 500 yards rushing if he's having a bad day.

1) No turnovers on offense.
2) Limited penalties (some in garbage time are okay.)
3) Score immediately off their turnovers.
