Things I want to see outside of the W.

1. Protect Cam. OL pass protection has been slipping. It is a combination of poor communication allowing late blitzes to get through and then just flat out getting beat. On the second sack of the FSU game, Francis had to block two guys. You always take the inside guy in that situation. He decided to block no one. Cam can escape one guy, hard for him to escape two. That simply should not happen this late in season. 78 got absolutely manhandled on the last sack against FSU. Do better! Protect your QB. So this poses an interesting challenge. Duke is top 10 in sacks with 3 a game. I want to see no more then one sack allowed. And I do not want to see Cam running around the pocket like he was last game. That was annoying and we should be better then that. Otherwise I count that as a loss and a sign of a serious problem that better teams will take advantage of.

2. The Heisman campaign has officially started. I need to see a 3 or 4 TD performance from Cam. If that means taking a short TD run off the board, then go with it. We have been waiting all year for the play action fake with 9 lined up at FB. With Manny's overly aggressive defense, I think we see a 2 yard TD to Lofton this game of the PA. Get up early and let Cam eat. Let's get his trophy!

3. Duke has the 108th ranked offense in the country. We better make them look like the 108th offense in the country. We need blood for the last time they came to Hard Rock and embarrassed us. They are terrible on 3rd down and even worse on 4th. I want another solid performance against a sorry offense (see FSU). Let's build some momentum on the defensive side of the ball. It is astonishing we have the 13th ranked defense in the country. But we need to be better and we better play better this game.

4. Win the turnover battle. This statistic is the only possible way for Duke to stay in game. They are second in turnovers gained. We are awful. How we did not get one pick against those sorry FSU QB's is remarkable. We need to flip the script in this game. I want to see one pick and one fumble recovery and zero turnovers on our side.

Go Canes!

I want to see an effective defensive game plan/scheme from Guidry. Haven’t seen that in the last several games outside of the FSU game. And FSU’s offense is so inept, it’s hard not to look good against them.

Which brings me to point number 2. Tackling. Our game plan was good against FSU, but our tackling still sucked. We improve just 50% better in tackling, we win this game easy.

Just want to see another dominant performance, firing on all cylinders and facets like uf. That would just encompass everything you said and more.

I would like to see fans complain begging for us to run a screen, as if it isn't something we do, even though we run one about every 5 plays.

Forcing a few turnovers would be great. We have this all world DL. Have we forced a single strip sack yet in 8 games? Against a real school. I don’t recall any. Whip somebody flat off the ball and bury your helmet in Murphy’s chest and make that football shoot outta there at high velocity. How many short field TD drives do we have? Zero? Louisville had 2 cheap TDs. Cal did. VT did. This offense is so good, we’ve been saying all year the defense just needs to play complementary football. Just one turnover deep in their end can open the floodgates. If the defense is gonna allow explosives, they gotta force some too.

The Duke vs SMU game has been on ACCN since 1 pm. I've been able to watch most of it and caught 3 of the interceptions -
they were completely avoidable. Jennings takes alot of risks with the ball when he is scrambling to avoid pressure. I don't see Cam having any of the three I saw..... Jennings also fumbles alot.

Jennings tries to do too much and gives the ball away.

I think the Duke takeaway number from last week is misleading... SMU literally gave them the ball....

I'd really like to see a run that just blasts for a long TD once the RB gets to the second level. I just love seeing that.

I think we’re going to see a lot more of this the last month of the season. Teams are wearing down. A lot of these kids have been hitting consistently for 3 months now. I don’t know if it was fully planned or by dumb luck/a combination of Martinez getting off to a slow start, but Dawson and Merrit have managed this RB rotation perfectly, imo.

Martinez is averaging 11.6 carries a game. He averaged 16.1 last year.

Fletcher is averaging 8.1 carries a game. He averaged 10.5 last year.

Allen is getting his series or two in the 2nd half of games. All these dudes look really fresh to me. How many times in the last 2 weeks have they been brought down by the first guy? Very, very few.

We’re now in the top 30 nationally in 10+ yard runs, 20+ yard runs, and 30+ yard runs.

We have 41 runs of 10+ yards in 7 FBS games. Almost 6 per game. Last year, we had 57 in 12 games.

Last year we had 18 runs all year of 20+ yards. We have 13 already this year.

I fully expect some really big runs the last month of the season. It looks like Fletcher and Martinez are both really strong right now and Allen comes in like the energizer bunny late in games.

I got us getting 3+ 20 yard runs this game. Manny makes it too easy. And with Martinez vision he will hit the right hole that has no one behind it.
