I love Genesis. Did NWA have a guy who played this?

Oh, and remind me which NWA song is permanently tied to the Canes as Collins' In The Air Tonight.
You maybe missing the forest for the trees.
In the Air tonight is a classic song.
Does it create the type of cultural wave that Strait hit Outta Compton created? Of course not.

And obviously I was just using NWA and Genesis as examples for cultural significance vs simply mastering a form. Bama and UGA have mastered their business as one can argue Genesis did as well.

UM and NWA will be discussed for generations.

The hate for the old UM football teams is different from the run of the mill hate that most winners get. Miami haters didn’t just hate Miami because they were great. They hated Miami because Miami didn’t fall in line with the accepted “culture” of college football. Miami players had swag, they talked trash, they danced and celebrated big plays. They openly disrespected the traditional powers. And let’s be real, they were mostly black guys. Most of the traditional powers in college football had been winning for decades, some even a century before Miami came to power in the 1980’
Agree. They didn’t like inner city kids sticking it to the establishment…and boy did we stick it to them all. Theu changed the rules to keep us down and decided if “we can’t beT em, join em”… and started going into the hood and grabbing our guys. They want to keep us down, hence the witch hunts and prejudiced officiating.

I got your point. I just think you chose a poor example is all.

Def Leppard might have been more appropriate.

85 is another. Had a Tennessee fan literally tell me *this week* that the 86 sugar bowl was on par with their 98 national championship win.

We win in ‘85, we are Nat’l Champs. ‘85-‘88 & we only won one title. We legitimately should’ve had 4 in a row.

-2 games Vinny absolutely chit the bed
-1 the refs hosed us, but we could’ve split w/ ND had we tied vs. going for 2.

I saw Def Leppard in concert in 1988 in Detroit after watching UM come back from a 30-14 4th quarter deficit to beat Michigan. Def Leppard, therefore, can never be my example as they are inexorably intertwined with Miami football In my mind.
How about Poison?

This I agree with that's why I never consider us a traditional team. I like the crazy uniforms and going against the grain. Give me Nike and the crazy that comes with it it's just Miami. Shake sh up

"Catholics vs Criminals showdown"...in '85?...that's a new twist.
"Catholics vs Convicts" was '88. In '85 we delivered the beat down that ND used to deliver against everyone else , to everyone's joy. But we weren't supposed to do that.

Man...please let us be dominant again...
PLEASE.

Boo Hoo Lou wanted no part of a rematch, saying, "we already beat them...what more do we have to prove?"
You proved NOTHING Lou...in basically a tie game on your home field, that you were statistically dominated.

That'll work.
