Vince Wilfork barely made an impact as a freshman, and he is one of the greatest nose tackles to ever play football. In the NFL. Ever.

Kendrick Norton isn't going to do ish for us this year. Freshmen DTs in a 2-gap system have never and will never make significant impacts, it just doesn't happen.

Have you been reading that we have scrapped the 2 gapping? And wilfork did play and made plays as a freshman

We didn't scrap two gapping. We have heard EVERY YEAR that "we are being more aggressive". It's the same garbage scheme over and over again.

And yes, Wilfork made some plays his freshman year. But he was a tiny part of the team, and he's easily a top 10 defensive tackle to ever play football at any level.

Let me say it clearly so even the mouthbreathers can understand:

Kendrick Norton is not going to make any difference on this teams defensive performance this season.

DMoney said in his scrimmage report thread that we were 1-gapping and 2-gapping. They haven't scrapped anything. We're still multiple.

All teams have 2 gap packages, but from all accounts we are making 1 gapping more of a priority, was at the spring game didnt see any 2 gapping

I laugh at the schmoes buying into Norton being a savior at DT as a FR. You can count the number of impact true FR DTs in the ENTIRE modern era of college football on one hand.

What makes you drips think that Folden of all people is going to produce 1 of those rarest of the rare species in all of college football?

Exactly...it does come off a little fruity but I get what he means. This is a kid who had no direction at all. He was "let loose" and was on his way to being "let go". Whatever is working for Willis...he seems pretty happy with being "loved". The key is for Golden to know when to let him "go eat".

Coach Al Golden is a great recruiter. Another gem found in David Njouku. Right in NJ.

He hasn't done anything yet. I personally had my doubts as he comes from a Group I school.

Freshman DT is just about the toughest position to step in and make an impact on the field. It's night and day differnce (moreso than other position). It takes a real special talent to make some sort of impact his first year.

What give anyone the impression he's changing anything? Everything was Duke and the other guy's that left fault. It's going to end the same way 4-8. Trust me. Agree,Golden is not flexible at all.Remember the Wake game in 2013 their OL was lining 2-3 yards apart and Golden and Dnofrio never adjusted,the tv guys were wondering why miami wasn't blitzing the gaps and we just kept playing soft.Golden's game is a slow tempo offense to keep possessions to a minimum and a soft defense with DBs deep to prevent the big play letting the opponent eat the clock again to limit possessions down 4 or 5 only a half and he's hope is we convert key 3rd downs to win a close game.

It could mean that the O Line has been trained to NOT expect the defense to come upfield!! I think we're all worrying way too much about this unit. They'l have their WTF moments cuz they're young, but it's not gonna be a **** show.

Can't you be sharp enough to accept "hype" about a freshman while still realizing that his peak impact will still be kinda limited in the grand scheme of things this year? He's just a freshman dude..nobody says he's gonna be Warren Sapp. But I'll get excited about ANY DT who isn't consistently over-matched.

This is coming from same guy who tried so hard to dismiss multiple positive reports about Chickilo with the Steelers because it was in a padless practice but will blow Al for taking a guy that multiple people thought was good even though the highlight people are celebrating was in practice. And then he throws his wannabe NJ pump. And then he does the tool reference of COACH Al Golden and tries to celebrate his mixed recruiting. How transparent.

I don't disagree with Brock. It makes me visit the site a lot less because how annoying it is. Some of these f#ckers spin every little thing into some bull**** drama. It's time the mods step in before the season starts. Completely out of hand!
