The Work 7-17: PARADISE CAMP RECAP

any word on how devonta smith liked his visit? Or why McFarland didn't show up?

* WR Devonta Smith: "I enjoyed my time out here getting to know the coaches, the coaching staff. I like it. They're about business, and that's what it's all about because this is nothing but a business.

"It was good coming out here competing, seeing how coach (Ron) Dugans works, the feeling it is to be out here."

Bama

Yeah a little too straight forward for me!

So a buddy of mine worked at Duke and ucf..:he currently has an ops position at Syracuse. He told me that Miami is in a very grey area here with a lot of stuff regarding rules and violations. I told him stfu and cited why. Now I'm not saying there were rules broke, as I don't believe their were. I told him that he and the rest of CFB are just shook because competence at Miami is trouble for all.

But I have to ask...is there any lines crossed? I don't know all rules. Like I said, I think it's just JOSE. But he got me thinking...someone tell me he's just another jealous jerk off.

Trust me Mark Richt is a smart man he would have researched all the rules to make sure it is all ok. Now, my guess is that it is legal, but never been done before, and thus the SEC will cry and whine about it and either the NCAA will make a new rule where this is not allowed or the SEC will copy this and fail.

I have to say Im a bit confused with the camp portion. It shifted from an unofficial visit in the day to a camp at night. The camp had to be open to all, and it was for upper classman.. but they did invite back certain underclassman and not others. Thats the odd part that I would be curious about the rules on.

Friday was an unofficial visit... Saturday was a camp hence the registration fee. Anyone could come but had to pay.

Pete I'm curious to know how Frierson, Ivey, Edwards, etc. held up in their 1 on 1's vs the big dogs like Jeudy and Smith?

Also was John Ford out there and if so how did he hold up in 1 on 1's vs Hayes and co on the interior?

Great work as always, Pete! Excited about the future! Hope that we offer Mike Harley. Kid has the kind of speed that we need back at the U. Hope that this weekend was an eye opener for Jeudy and that it really makes his decision a hard one. Good to hear that Xavier Williams showed out, as well as Mark Pope. We need to keep talented kids like them home. Would love to see D. Smith in our units next year. Would be a huge pull for the staff.

Surprised you didn't mention anything about Waymon Steed Jr.. Kid is a stud.

Also very good news on the OL and DB front. Great commitments this weekend with Edwards, Dent and Hillery! Frierson and Ivey are both big-time recruits. Glad to hear that they are solid and already creating a bond.

If we can add Hayes, we will have a very aggressive, talented and hungry OL. Leatherwood is a very long shot, but who knows. If we win 10-11 games and Bama somehow stumbles, then we might have a shot. Needless to say, he would be a huge get.

Also happy to see that Passmore showed out again. Hope he gets his offer real soon. I think this kid has a huge ceiling and seems to possess a high-motor.

I don't see Cook ever coming here. I think he's all FSWho?, but who knows. Stranger things have happened.

Richt and staff doing work! It's all about the U!!! :stormwarningflag-sm:stormwarningflag-sm:stormwarningflag-sm:neonu::11263272045_489f4f7

On periscope and Twitter Xavier is always like go noles or go gators. When jeudy was love that periscope name that says zamborghini is Xavier willams. You will see him post go noles a few times

Everything I heard about Steed from camp was great...I wasn't checking out the linebackers that much though. Wanted to get a good look at the linemen since most of those guys I won't have the chance to see again.

Deejay was talking a good amount of smack during 1on1's. He made a real nice break on the ball one time on a post, also played jeudy real well one time on a short dig type route. Someone beat him deep on a route that took about 10 mins to come together, so not rlly his fault.

Like many have already said, you can tell there's a whole new type of vibe around the current players, recruits, and coaches. Richt walks around w a ton of confidence, introduced himself to fans throughout the day, joked around with current players/former players a good amount, and just knows what the **** he's doing which is refreshing.

I think our 2018 class will be where the impact shows the most. With how early recruiting starts these days, a lot of the 2017 kids were leans to a lot of other schools and Miami wasn't even on there minds because of how incompetent our old coaches were. Now if we win 10+ games this year than all bets are off w/ 2017s too. But people like Jeudy, Smith, Mcfarland, Wilson, etc. were all heavy leans in a different direction before Miami got involved. The 2018's and younger didn't deal w the previous staff at all for the most part, so there view on Miami will be completely different by the time they need to start making decisions. And you can tell the younger kids were loving life yesterday.

now that Pete is doing his thing full time, the level of work and information he's getting has hit next level.

good news or bad, CIS brings them.

I just hope the rumors aren't true about this place starting to charge but even then, i'll pony up.

I'll have to disagree. this 2017 class is the beginning of the honeymoon phase. i do believe that 2018 will be stronger than 2017 but 2017 needs to be a good one as well. otherwise, we should have serious doubts about some of our assistant coaches.

You started by saying you'll have to disagree but than continued to agree with my main point that 2018 is going be stronger than 2017 lol. I agree with you that it is the honeymoon stage, and that we will get some guys with the excitement within the program right now (edwards for example). But I think it's too late to reel in the mcfarland's, jeudy's and smith's of the world. Again, that could all change with a big season this yr.

Mike Harley, whatever is stopping UM from offering, they have to sweep under the rug and get this guy in.

Jeudy, Harley, Dingle/Scott=sick wr haul

I've heard Bandy will commit here. However, he's in Bama right now and hopefully the SEC bagmen don't come out in full force.

Bama
That's what I got

Some observations I had:

Cade Weldon throws beautiful balls. He made a nice range of throws with good accuracy. Don't count this kid out in a couple of years

I had no idea who #6 was all day. I came home and found it was 2018 WR Xavier Williams. He's a great athlete who catches everything in traffic. He will another one of those special WRs in the mold of jeudy, Rudolph, Richards, Bruce, etc.

Hayes, leatherwood, Donaldson were the most physically impressive oline. All 3 look like they can log a lot of time in their first two years, which oline don't usually do.

DJ Scaife and Zach D. both look good and showed nice technique.

Mike Harley can fly. I hope he gets an offer. We need some of that speed in our offense

#6 was mark pope not Xavier Williams. 2018 kid out of southridge
