In reality, even that doesn't matter anymore. Win your conference (P4) and you're in the playoffs. Theoretically, a team in today's game could rest all their starters for all their OCC games and lose them, win every conference game and the conference championship in overtime, and take home the trophy at the end of the year.

Everyone who has tracked this program over the last 20 years has a valid argument to think we’ll eventually fold. The posters here who folded mid-game on Saturday night should STFU about other people not believing.

We just need to keep winning. Ward needs to stop throwing stupid picks, our defensive backs need to take away the home runs, we need to tackle, and George et al need to stop taking the bait on unsportsmanlike penalties. Because if we do those 4 things, we will boat race the rest of our schedule. But doing those four things is not a given.

Now that Vandy beat Alabama, maybe people need to give VT a little more credit. If not for a self imposed wound, they don't lose to Vandy in OT.

But you're right. They certainly look at our close wins against decent teams a lot closer than they look at other team's losses and poor performances in wins. I don't know of any team in the country that could survive the last two weeks like we did.

The discussion was related to ACC title game opponent. That's why I compared SMU to Clemson (who everyone seems to be convinced we'd play in the ACCCG).
 
this team looks identical to the 22 and 23 fsu teams that got every bounce to continue their winning ways. That’s us right now.

I believe we have a much higher ceiling if we put it all together but right now it’s pretty much identical to the 2023 noles resume that hurt them optic wise down the stretch

No, no it's not. We are not getting every bounce, or call, in order to win these games. Without the holding call on Bell against VT, we pull away. Without the refs missing all kinds of calls against Cal, we are never down 25. Not to mention, FSU would have never come back from 35-10, because the refs would have never allowed them to be down 35-10. FSU was VASTLY more protected by the officials than we are.

We are 2 calls away from being 0-2 in conference play. The double standard this fanbase has is absolutely comical

Miami finds a way to eek out a win as double digit favorite… “good teams find ways to win bro!!!!”

Any other team struggles to win as double digit favorites: “overrated bro!!! They suck bro!!”

EVERY **** team is a couple calls away from a loss or two. Ours just get put under the magnifying glass to make it look like we needed those calls to win.

First of all, it was a TERRIBLE call ruling the VT play a TD in the first place. We didn't need the refs to win us that game. We needed them to get the call RIGHT. Same with the so called targeting. It wasn't called for a reason. There were angles that showed he lead with his shoulder, but for theatrical purposes, they decided to show the angle that looked like he lead with his helmet.

We won both games fair and square. This is nothing like FSU and getting every **** protective call. Remember the non safety? You actually think we're getting calls like that?
