Deserves props. Lot of praise going around but not seeing much for a unit that was viewed as the biggest concern/question mark.

0 passing touchdowns allowed through 3 games.

Number 5 in the country in pass efficiency defense.

Number 6 in the country in passing yards allowed per attempt.

And according to Geo, PFF has us rated as the number 1 pass coverage team in the country.

Every summer we talk about which units are weak and which are strong, and it seems like every year we get surprised. At this point I'm expecting the OL to take a step back and the secondary to be one of our most productive units, just because I said the opposite in July lol.

All I saw was post after post about losing Kam and James. But anyone who really watched the team last year saw how many times they busted coverage trying to make a play. That’s how we lost to Louisville. I actually saw them arguing back there after we gave up a touchdown.

All we needed was for our safeties to play their responsibilities in the defense this year and we would be better. It’s not the whole season but we look good back there. Of course us having what looks like one of the best pass rushes in the country certainly helps.

I’m a big believer in that a defense success starts with the big uglies up front. But our secondary is playing with so much discipline. DJP position flexibility is helping out a lot and OJ coming in and starting as a freshman has really elevated the rest of the room.

Bigger tests coming for sure, but I’m excited to see continued growth for the secondary, especially when DB comes back.

Yes.

My “glass is half empty” perspective has much to do with Richard. He is a liability back there and is often bailed out by either the QB or our DL applying tons of pressure.
Yeah I gotcha just busting balls a little bit. We will get some interesting tests

Thing is with teams you just don’t truly know what you got until the **** hits the fan. We just haven’t been tested at all this year

UiF tried all kinds of eye candy and tricks and it just didn’t work

Feel like people have talked that team into being something they’re not.
I mean I’m not high on them I thought that bama/usf game was ugly football in general and not indicative of a good usf team but I think it’s a good step up from ball st / famu
