I think we're there. At this point there is just no way Golden can stay in my eyes. Frankly I'm excited at the prospect of getting a Butch, Petrino, or franklin. This staff has underperformed and it's time to move on, this whole Penn State flirtation is the final straw...thanks and cya

UM isn't firing Al though. Best we can hope if he doesn't get the PSU job is that we let No D go and Al realizes he can't get along with out him and decides to walk away.

Clearly the hope is he takes the job...we won't fire him. That 5 million buyout also doesn't hurt. It's actually a good deal for UM...new staff and some cash
 
Firing Al means UM pays off his contract if he doesn't take the Pedo State job. UM can't afford to pay off a contract and pay a new coach a reasonable salary at the same time.

Whatever happens needs to happen NOW!! I have been impartial to losing Golden, but like most on here, the longer this has dragged on, the more receptive I am to the move, mostly because the right coach can come in and win BIG with this team and keeping most of the recruiting class we already have.

I think a defensive minded coach would benefit this team most, especially if we keep Coley on staff. I'm not sold on Butch and questionable about Schiano, although they have lots of experience, but guys like Orgeron, kirby smart, etc, are definitely intriguing.

Something about bringing back Chud also makes a lot of sense. Nevertheless, something needs to happen immediately because the new guy will only have a couple of weeks to keep this recruiting class from collapsing.

I would think Al is a moron for the situation with regards to recruiting and ignoring his players but if he hires a DC with an ultra aggressive approach who completely changes the scheme (which has no chance of happening) I could live with it

You think his current players are going to put much effort into Al's way if he returns?

You think kids that we will be after next season will be buying his ****?

Teams will use this all day long in recruiting on guys that are on the fence.

The only good recruits we would land. Would be the ones that don't care about the coach.

Al has to go no matter what.

If I'm AD & Al stays I immediately fire Onofrio and hire Butch as DC and let him assemble his defensive staff as a message to Golden that his **** ain't gonna flush

I wonder if Al even realizes that the fanbase has turned on him (if he comes back....obviously doesn't matter if he leaves).
