Where do you think this defense should be as far as defense ranking/stats in college football? That what I want to know. At times it seems like you think another coordinator would have a top 30 defense with these players. And please don't say just don't get beat by duke.

I don't know about ranking. I do know we have enough talent for teams like wake,gt,uva,vt, and duke.

Duke ran for TWICE as many yards vs miami than it did vs north carolina central, memphis and everybody else on their schedule.

VT had the BEST offensive game of the year vs miami. That's including marshall and a fcs school.

We have enough for this **** not to happen.

Think about this, Total defense:

2007: 33rd 334 ypg
2008: 26th 317 ypg
2009: 29th 329 ypg
2010: 22nd 325 ypg

2011: 45th 359 ypg
2012: 120th 486 ypg
2013: 66th 400 ypg

As much as I hate to say this if we ran Shannon's 4-3 we would be in the 30s-40s I would imagine. Those defenses weren't overly talented and were flawed themselves. But they were able to get a few stops as well and not let teams march up and down the field.

I think we should be at the point where we don't give up 500 yards and 300 rush yards to Duke in this staff's 3rd year.

Or 40 points an 500+ yards to a VT offense that ranked in the 100's.

Maybe my expectations are out of kilter.

Seriously. How about showing some resistance against teams that can't move the ball against any defense that has a pulse. Let's start there, then we can worry about rankings.

Without doing the math, whichever spot they'd end up if they had just held Virginia Tech and Duke to their season average on offense.

with the way recruiting went on 2010-2011, y new unstoppable 4-3-5 wouldnt work

I don't care about statistical rankings. I just want to see a much better product on the field. One that doesn't get gashed to death by teams like UNC, Puke and Vag Tech. No one's expecting elite; we just want good right now. Unfortunately, we're far from good, and that's why all the real UM fans are up in arms. We're sick of it.

I feel like the guys who are willing to gloss over this **** are like robot drones sent here to fck with us because it seems so fcking obvious that what we're seeing is completely unacceptable in year 3 of a corch's run. It's just too obviously wrong for anyone to try to convince us otherwise.

One year we had like 2 players drafted under Shannon. Seriously. The defense was never as bad ad it is now. It just couldn't get key stops at times. But overall. Way more sacks and pressure and less busts. That D was really a lack of talent most times. Either way no one cares about the rankings. Getting raped by crappy teams is whats upsetting

Duke Blue Devils

Top 50 with the talent we have now.

We shouldn't allow teams like Duke, UNC, and VT to have career games. We've done this for the past 5 weeks.

I don't even care about good, I just want average and I would be satisfied. We are not even average now, we are far below average. We are FCS level right now.

Agree with this. Id say somewhere in the 40's to 50s. But something is very broken on this defense.

Everyone like to bring up duke

The duke game argument is played out. That loss was more than talent , coaching, or scheming. That was kids and maybe coaches mentally beaten before the game even starts, from getting whooped 2 games in a row. Snow ball effect. Happens all the time in sports. First sign of adversity they folded like a lawn chair

I tend to agree with this. And I think the most important play of the game was the interception when we were up 17-7 and at midfield trying to go up by 17. I think the entire team said here we f'ing go again.
