We ran the diamond last year from the pistol , 3 guys in the backfield with Morris
We ran it a couple times last year
Mentioned it while I was sitting there at the game. Kinda a curious time to bring it out. Like a "hey, Video Coordinator guy, put this on your log." There wasn't really any other reason to bring it out at that time and run what we ran out of it.
I keep telling myself that Coley has a whole bunch of **** in his bag that was supposed to come out vs UF, but was left in there in the hopes of conservatively slugging one out.

If those rumors are true that we held back our offense vs. UF so it wouldn't be on film for later opponents, wouldn't that imply that this staff placed more importance on the ACC schedule (FSU, specifically) more so than an OOC game against UF? That's possible but curious because of the recruiting impact that a win against UF could (will) have.

I don't think they purposely did it. I think that's the way the game worked out. Our OLine was getting worked, Morris looked shaky and our defense was keeping us in the game. This is what I'm telling myself: we didn't open it up because we apparently thought keeping it basic would give us the best chance to win that game...and we won.

Didn't Al say exactly that? I swear I saw an interview where he talked about that.
On another note, apparently Fishbein is pretty cool with Coley. He went on record a while back (I think when he was first hired) saying that he expected Coley to run an uptempo offense and also that Coley really liked the pistol.

I don't recall that; but I do believe it was the first time we've seen it this year.

Don't know if he said it for that game or another. He makes a lot of references to playing "the numbers," so to speak. If he were a baseball manager, he'd make almost all his substitution patterns based on the numbers. As I mentioned in another post, I guess that comes from his coaching roots (tree).
