The personality of the offense

It's not so much a "different" player, it's the mindset of the player SF alluded to above. I'm not saying Golden doesn't look for certain traits because it's obvious he does, but different leaders get different results all the time. We are going to look and act like a tough minded team. No matter what our talent level the next two years while we grow, we will be a pain in the butt to play. We were in every game with a chance to win with a horrible, horrible skillet and experience at several positions.

So true...it's really incredible how much he's changed the mindset of this team in such a short period of time. That masters in psych is definitely paying off. So glad we have this guy locked down for the long-term. I truly believe it's a matter of when we'll be back, not if

We already found guys like Chick and Perryman.

We're not the only team in the ACC that lost experienced players and players yet to show their stuff.

We saw a significant improvement last year over the year before. And this year it's only going to get even better, as we have young stuff, but tough young stuff. They're going to stay home, watch their lanes, they're going to be significantly stronger, and a number of those games we lost last year by the hair of our chinny chin chin, we're going to win some of those this year.

Not trying to start a debate but I believe we were in every game because we had on par or better talent... Now I do agree with the assessment that Al brings another identity to the team... I think he brings a tough smash mouth football style to the team... That being said, expecting some of the young players to come in and just replace some of our playmaking contributors is pretty premature...

the team needs to see who's going to be the guy who takes the top off defenses this year. Hurns can get deep but is a possession guy first. Scott looks to be in the same mold. Dorsett is fast enough to be that guy but not sure he will be. can still be a real successful offense without that guy, but just makes it that much easier for the TEs and running game if we develop a deep threat.

Dorsett went out early in the scrimmage, Hurns is hurt, Lockhart didn't make into school for the spring, hard to judge the passing game right now.

I think Morris throwing to Scott, Dorsett, Hurns, Lockhart, and Thompkins will work out just fine. Maybe one of the other freshman (especially if AJL gets into school) will get some burn as well.

As we all said many-a-time during the coker years, over time a team will take on the personality of its head coach. I think we're slowly seeing that in Coral Gables.
to expand on that.........under shantard we saw alot of lazy kids and kids with a feeling of entitlement

that whole MNW class was being blown by the media........and having so many on the same roster........with the culture........its no surprise that as a whole the class was a huge bust

its evident that the we have guys working harder than ever before and that they believe in the staff and what they are trying to accomplish

we see that we have kids stepping up to be leaders and that they are all pushing each other.......these are things we havent seen in quite some time

so i dont think its so much the "personality of the offense" as much as itll be the personality of the entire team

we already started to see a huge difference last year

even in the games we lost.........we didnt quit......we were in games until the end

of our 6 losses.....5 of them were by a TD or less and the MD game we lost by 10 despite having 7 players suspended

in previous years.....once we would fall behind and the clock started to tick down.......we would mail it in

this year we will also be playing alot of freshmen and sophs.........so i fully expect us to lose some games because of mistakes due to inexperience.........but if we continue to see a team that doesnt quit.........is more disciplined..........itll be a good sign going forward

I think the offense will be more well rounded but with less big play threats. Im actually glad we are going in the direction more blue collar players. With all the playmakers in dade there will be some big play guys here in the near future but I like the way golden recruits. This team needs more of a tough guy approach instead of a finesse, dance around type team. That same approach is going to be great on defense as well.

I really like the way the TEs are coming along this year.

JefeGringo, I agree that we're going to be a royal pain in the *** to play. While we may not have all our pieces in place as we'd prefer, we always have talent and skill, with the difference this year being that we're coming on with a whole new attitude. Discipline-wise, speed-wise, strength-wise, endurance-wise, and attitude-wise. The intangibles are getting much better.

I recall when Schnellenberger started developing a football team from scratch, the improvements from year to year, and those 'lousy Hurricanes' started whipping *** and taking names. They got outright mean on the field, and with each quality win, they got more confidence. And back then, we'd go anywhere and play anybody.

Soon enough, we EXPECTED to win. That continued to build and build until eventually we had more confidence than the law allowed.

Third and 43? No hurry, no worry, just another third and long to be made.

I don't give a tinker's **** how young we are, I firmly believe that this is the year we start our move upward. Telling games will be against Kansas State (barely lost that one last year), Notre Dame (God, how I hate ND), Virginia Tech (didn't do too shabby against them last year), and Florida State (they'll hate seeing us again.)

Back in the day, we'd win even the toughest of games in the fourth quarter. These guys better be building up some stamina, 'cause that's going to determine three or more wins/losses this year.

lol at anyone thinking we wont BADLY miss Miller and Streeter. those guys are legit NFL caliber talent and gamechangers. we dont have anyone on offense that comes close to these guys right now. MAYBE Duke can soften the blow of the Miler loss (fingers crossed) but Miller will be sorely missed. ****, even J12 will be missed this year. kid was money for the most part in 11 out of 12 games.

I'm hoping that Morris will turn a corner and make better decisions and see teh field much better but I kinda doubt it. he has been a one read and panic type of QB up to this point. we will need to pound the ball and work the TEs this year with no legit threat at WR or RB for that matter. it is gonna be ugly on offense no doubt

throw in TB as a guy that will be sorely missed. who on offense right now can replace his big play threat?

the reality of it is that for the most part......all he was......was a threat

hester was a proven big play weapon.........TB was a guy with that type of potential......but who never really materialized as such

i dont think he will be missed at all.......im pretty confident that guys like dorsett and crawford can replace his production with the same potential

Jagaga and friends were not football players. They were great sandlot players.

Jagaga was soft. Miller was damaged in high school. Streeter was inexperienced.

We have football players now.
u saying Miller wasn't a "football player"..smh...watch what he does in the league

hmmm. pretty sure that TB is in the top 6 or so for receiving yards in UM history. the guy put up plenty of big plays

4th, TB wreaked havoc running straight. I agree with the big play potential.

what exactly did streeter and benjamin bring to the table besides speed... dorsette>>benjamin all day...

TB made big plays....every 3 games or so. The problem was that he didn't ever do it consistently. Big game one week, disappear the next two...

This. And he certianly didn't make a ton of plays last year. He's the one we'll miss the least in this conversation.

Remember we went into last season saying the same thing about losing Hankerson. We lost our best WR and no one to replace him. We'll be fine. The offense will likely be way more balanced, particularly if the TEs stay fit. Crawford has been playing will in the slot and Scott seems to be locking up a WR slot. We know what we have in Hurns and if he starts the year off well again, that may be all we need. I think between Louis, Lockhart, and AJL we'll have a frosh that can contribute by mid-season and that's not even counting Dorsette.
