I believe that the NCAA will not cite the University of Miami for a "lack of institutional control" but the COI (committee on infractions) will uphold a large number of the charges the NCAA's investigation alleges. Even though most of those might be based only on the word of the convicted billion dollar Ponzi scheme felon Nevin Shapiro I believe they give them some credibility. That's just my opinion and more importantly I don't think the COI wants to deliver a crushing defeat to the NCAA's investigators at this time when the NCAA is in crisis mode with the lack of a viable leader.

Mark Emmert has brought the NCAA to a crisis state with his arrogant personality, heavy handed tactics with Penn State and his refusal to take responsibility for a really screwed up organization. He's also covering up for some of his senior staffers who were involved with Shapiro and his attorney Perez. Emmert will retire or be removed in the not too distant future in my opinion, he's lost control of the organization.

My best guess is that the NCAA will take 4 scholarships a year from us for 3 to 4 years and they will impose another year of a bowl ban. Shalala will appeal the decision to the NCAA but she does not have the desire to take it to court unless it's worse than the scenario I fear. Wanting final closure will be cited for the reason not to go to court but this will not sit well with Al Golden and staff.

When this is over one former Hurricane Club staff member will surface as this person may have chased Shapiro too much for dollars and may have accepted favors from Shapiro as well and in the process losing sight of what a thief Shapiro was. This person could have put a stop to Shapiro as Coach Randy Shannon could have too. I hold Shannon responsible for not being able to manage his own staff and players when he knew there was a problem. Randy did almost as much as Joe Paterno did to stop Sandusky.

It's June 19th.

Are you aware how many hurricane club members there are in total?

The only thing I agree with is Emert's days are numbered.

We are being charged with LOIC because of our coaches alleged involvement in the infractions. I don't think LOIC will go away but you may be right on the amount of scholarships we lose a year. Everyday courts around the United States use testimony from thieves, murders and rapist to convict others so I don't see why the NCAA would be any different. I think the lawsuit filed by the Paterno's will go a long ways and showing what the NCAA can get away with. The NCAA didn't even pretend to follow its on process there.

At the end of the day we still have South Florida producing talent like no area in the country and that is something the NCAA can't take away. The better we perform on the field will help us land some of these guys and bring us back towards the top. It has been a long 2.5 years but with our staff and current set up players I think Miami has some great days ahead.

No chance on another bowl ban without a long drawn out court case. Two bowl bans is MORE than the corroborated evidence actually calls for.

Zero chance the U accepts that. The 3 or 4 schollies a year they might....but I'd be absolutely shocked, disappointed, and disheartened if they accepted another bowl ban. Won't happen.

Another bowl ban would be unprecedented even if the entire list of allegations in the NOA were true. Given that many of the allegations had zero substantiation, there's no way a 3rd bowl ban would be accepted, or should be.

No way in **** another bowl ban gets tagged on to the punishment. I think if the NCAA had enough evidence to feel confident with hitting the University with another bowl ban, Shalala and Co. would have still been in the hearing on Saturday slamming holes into what the NCAA thought was solid evidence of infractions. I definitely think the NCAA will have to induce some type of penalties that we will not be happy to hear. Most likely more scholarships than we would want to lose and probation but another bowl ban for $Money that was less than what occured in USC....dude not happening. The Doom and Gloom theory gets no play in my ride!!!

That has got to be one of the stupidest things someone has truthfully written regarding what may happen to UM.

Did DBC help you write that?

Saving this for later so that when NONE of the **** you wrote comes true I can neg you again.

If we get another Bowl ban .. then why the **** would any other school cooperate again? Outside of Child molestation..The most Bowls that anyone would get is 2 at worst. (see USC) **** UCF got hit with LOIC and got a YEAR.

No way in **** do we get another bowl ban... no way.

JC

People forget we also sat out the ACCCG. So its really 3 bowl ban we have already self imposed. Adding another would be a bit excessive IMO.

Uh oh, logic.

Not only that, the stupid President of the NCAA on several situations commended our efforts with the investigation. Be helpful, get screwed. Good luck NCAA in the future with that motto.

1. there was no coverup. When Miami found out about Shapiro we did not burn documents or hide emails
2. Miami actually cooperated with the NCAA until the NCAA decided not to honer the joint investigation
3. yes the NCAA is not going to just dismiss Shaprios claims even though he is a liar etc, BUT they are going to start to wonder, what would happen if in a few months it is proven that Shapiro lied about few things that they found Miami guilt of. We are talking about completely shutting down the investigation unit at the NCAA and Miami will sue for fraud.
4. NCAA wants to look like they didn't fully mess up this investigation but they want to keep Miami at bay. Before you start to talk about another bowl ban, you need to understand what 2 years in a row for bowl ban actually means.

scholarship reduction, recruiting restrictions, probation, monitoring etc... whole bunch of stuff that makes it sound like we got allot of penalties but nothing close to a a bowl ban.
(fyi: TV restrictions don't happen anymore, conferences don't want this..remember it effects the other teams just as much)

Agreed

Honestly, the worst punishments are done. Missing that ACCCG last season was awful, we never have been there and nothing is guaranteed. The media BS, 2 bowl bans, the negative recruiting and the unknown (when is our day in court, how bad is it?) has slowed the program down from growing.

No matter how much you think Corch sucks or how great he is, this NCAA BS didn't help anything. It didn't help our brand, it didn't help rebuilding and we need to put it behind us fully.

Sad part about all this is kids (student athletes) are being punished for accepting hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks and fries while those sitting in judgement are making as much as $1.8 million a year. They're staying and eating at 4 and 5 star hotels and restaurants running up huge expense account charges telling hungry growing kids what they can eat. I say BS.
