Al Blades Jr. always performs on the big stage, and Sunday brought more of the same. The 6-foot, 170-pound lockdown cornerback talked recruiting before his stellar performance, making a point that he likes the new staff at Miami (FL), and has talked with defensive backs coach Mike Rumph. The instinctive cornerback said he looks at the Mark Richt era as, “a new beginning.” While many consider the Hurricanes the heavy favorite, Florida State will provide tough competition along with UCLA and South Carolina. Miami and Florida State will likely receive spring visits.

I would be shocked to see a Blades playing for FSU! I just can't imagine that ever happening, too much history there with that family. Would be about the same as Mike Irvin Jr. playing at FSU.

FSU has zero chance.

I just don't see what the big deal is with Houston. I see more of a safety than a pure LB.

Theres not much 6'1-6'2 220 pd safeties. Hes a big kid.....I don't know maybe looks a bit small on film because the size of the other kids at AH....but he is no way shape or form a safety....hE's a sam backer..smaller version of Darrion Owens honestly.

Surtain Jr. ain't even the best CB on his team, Campbell is, and if we're even in range of closing the gap between us and Clemson, he's ours to lose. The only reason we aren't his leader is the shi.tshow that was the golden era. I guarantee you if we show up in the ACCCG, he won't be so wide open then.

Surtain has it all. Length, speed, bloodlines, ball skills, etc. 2018 class is loaded at DB he might be the best. Blades a hair behind him.

Not too worried about DB recruiting in 2018. We will get ours. As long as we have a core of Jobe, Frierson, and Blades Jr I dont care who else we bring to join them. I heard JPatterson is the truth as well. Heard ASamuel Jr really likes us alot. Would love to get Campbell but we cant take them all. Someone is going to get scared off by comp and go somewhere else.

Cook might not want to follow in his brothers footsteps. Not a foregone conclusion. Plus he has said numerous times that he grew up a UM fan and loves us. We have a few years to make him see that this isnt the same "U" that his brother remembers..New era. New team.

jobe might be a safety at the next level, leaves a spot at corner for campbell or samuel, both are elite

Surtain Jr. does have it all, never said he didn't, but he's still not as good as Campbell, the guy we have an EXCELLENT shot at. Honest to goodness, Surtain Jr. won't be the only 5* on that defense and don't be surprised if he's rated lower than Campbell and Andrew Chatfield by the end of their senior year.

Exactly Bruh, if he played on an average-sized HS defense, his stature would stand out. But when your front four looks like his did and your corners are 6'1",6'2" 10th graders and you see him flying around like a bullet, it can give off the illusion that he's undersized. Kid can easily be 6'1",6'2" 240-245+ when he's college ready.
