Modern College OCs idea of great drive is a 8 play 75 yard drive that takes 4-5 mins off the clock. Mario idea of a great drive is a 15 play 75 yard drive that takes 10 mins off the clock.

Their goal is not to score fast. The ideal OC uses his players to create a schematic advantage over the defense to score points regardless of how long it takes. They can do that with pace or with superior talent or both.

If you say so man... When you see teams putting up 40-50 points a game it's because they are scoring fast and often by using an Uptempo scheme that gasses the defense and gets lined up fast play after play... Go watch USC,Bama, Ohio State and etc on their scoring drives it's a bunch of 3 to 5 min drives that go 6-8 plays. Mario offenses last year didn't play with tempo, which led to killing more time off the clock. It's just a different philosophy of offense.
