I've lived in both Miami and Memphis (a few hours from Jonesboro). Memphis is a worse heat, humid with no wind. If Jonesboro has weather anything like Memphis, it's not gonna be a factor in Saturday's game.
I agree with this. I've traveled during summer all my life, since my parents were both teachers. There's nothing worse than inland southern states in late summer. Often I've been begging to return to Miami, where the breeze and afternoon showers are such a welcome relief.
These days I spend many late summers at Saratoga before returning to Miami. I pack my golf clubs and play plenty in the Capital Region but I make sure to put the clubs where I can't find them on the return drive home. Closest I remember to death was an August round of golf in Kentucky many years ago.
The nights aren't as brutal in those states since the temperature drops more than in Miami. Daytime is beyond description. Heck, I prefer summer daytime in Miami to Orlando, where my sister now lives.
Besides, adjustments like this are a waste. It's darn near impossible to be good enough to apply the proper tilt, if any. I have one sharp buddy in Las Vegas who bets college football and used to fixate on the weather from the outset of the season. Finally in the mid '90s he learned to ignore the weather completely. He credits that with bumping his winning percentage considerably, allowing him to spotlight the criteria that actually matter.
