The linebackers against UNC

Eddie Johnson may be the odd man out.

G Paul has seemed to lock down his spot and is becoming our most active LB.

Perryman is playing well also

That leaves the battle between EJ or Kirby

Really. Come on.

LMAO.

Anyway at the moment Perryman and Kirby are playing the same position. Would be smart of the staff to slide Perryman weakside to get Kirby in the middle. Hated that when Kirby was playing against ND we took Perryman out, but left Paul in. Paul seemed to realllly struggle in space and has lead feet.

Not sure if they will move Perryman though and at the moment might be too much to ask a freshman like Kirby to learn another position.

Paul is not the prototypical ILB they're looking for.
Don't get me wrong I like Paul. He as a great motor and pretty good instincts and power. In a 4-3 one gap scheme he would be solid. But that's not what Golden and D'onofrio are looking for.
The Future LB corp will be Blue, EJ in the Middle. Kirby and DP on the outside. Terry also.

Gionni, Coach Golden would be upset if he knew you were on a computer the night before the game.

I am not sure why the board is down on G Paul. In his two starts back from injury he is averaging about 11 tackles a game. The board seems high on everyone else but the fact is G Paul is more productive than his peers

Almost anyone w/two eyes knows EJ shouldnt be coming off the field.... Almost anyone

Hype vs production.

Love EJ but when I look at the numbers G Paul is almost doubling him in tackles per game as a starter. When a LB averages close to 12 tackles a game, he is playing very well.

That can be deceiving though. Not knocking the guy, hes a young aggressive player and will be a stud one day. That being said, he cheats so far up to the los in almost every snap hes almost always in position to make a play on the run. When they pass or go play action he is out of position almost 100% of the time.

You would sit a LB who is averaging close to 12 tackles a game as a starter? I keep hearing Paul missed tackles in open space. Lets be fair, how many LB can tackle a running QB or shifty running back one on one in ooen space. We have to stop with the board hype and crowning players who are not showing the production on the field.

Have you guys ever wondered how he is making so many tackles and the others are not. I never look at names and board hype. To me numbers dont lie.

EJ is the problem on passing plays. He is the strong side LB and loses his man in zone often. He is getting better at closing those passing lanes.

as far as I'm concerned there are only a few guys on defense who have proven they should be out there every single play and EJ is one of them. how many fumbles has he forced? game winning stops? yeah

Found a picture of ACL tear errrrr Curtis Porter at practice today

EJ is the best linebacker we have. I love Denzel, but EJ has outplayed him this year. He is also a kid who has a lot of potential to get better.

Anyone who says Paul is better than EJ is insane. Making a tackle 20 yards down the field doesn't make you a great player.

Denzel's injury hurts this debate but I will take DP right now. I love EJ, but jeebus he looks completely lost out there in coverage at times.

He plays with bad intentions though and it's only a matter of time with him. I remember seeing him last year and thinking, holy **** if/when this kid figures it out.

I love EJ but I can't quite put him in front of DP yet. All I know is they're the 2 guys that when they tackle a guy, the guy goes backwards instead of falling forward for 3 extra yds.

Won't really matter. We rotate LBs too much so they'll probably get 1 series together max.
