This has to be a sign!26th coach... #26 lets go

think that’s why they gave him the jersey with #1 on it.26th coach... #26 lets go
Not much on scheme aside from being multiple. Which does excite me from a defensive standpoint. I love how multiple the Fins are with their coverage looks. Miami has the back end talent to do that stuff once we get some stud corners. Imagine 5 star DL’s crashing and cover zero 5 star CB’s on an islandI think he nailed it. Didn’t make excuses and talk about needing time. Just talked about work work work.
A guy who gets it from the top down who will give it his all to win. I can see why recruits love this man. Hats off to everyone for going in getting the truly right guyThey even made it a point to mention how the decision was not made due to "nostalgia."
I wasn’t expecting too much scheme talk because that would have been irresponsible. That would have been a red flag for me that he couldn’t possibly have seen what the talent he has is best suited for and is instead trying to force his scheme. Not much on scheme aside from being multiple. I see it to. Man, if I were a high school football player looking to play college ball, I'd be fired up listening to him.A guy who gets it from the top down who will give it his all to win. I can see why recruits love this man. Hats off to everyone for going in getting the truly right guy
He also hit on a lot of your amazing infrastructure post from a week or so ago. He spoke about his experiences at Bama and Oregon. Sports Science, sports psychology and THE RIGHT INFRASTRUCTURE. I’m 31 years old and cried tears of joy.Really couldn't have differentiated himself more from what we just experienced. And, it seemed natural. As I've said elsewhere, I have no idea if he'll succeed, and it'll get rocky, but at least he's genuine.
My favorite portions:
- Frenk's speech was surprisingly crisp and mentioned the "this is not about the past/nostalgia."
- Mario got directly to the cot**** point: it's about work - not the appearance of work or pretend.
- He brought up accountability. Even mentioned "early is on time." Imagine that.
- Mario clearly explained the work isn't about when **** is convenient. It's not on or off.
- RELENTLESS RECRUITING.
Seemed like a pro who knows what he is and what he isn't.

I missed it because my phone went in and out for a few moments, but someone told me he even included "PEOPLE" as infrastructure. Outstanding. I have no idea if this was all thought out or mostly off the cuff, but it's just helpful to know substance may begin to form around here. Tough to watch this for so long.He also hit on a lot of your amazing infrastructure post from a week or so ago. He spoke about his experiences at Bama and Oregon. That was one of the things that stood out to me. Now, go get an OC that can get the most out of that #1 QB in the country.Mario just said. -"It's obvious, there is not a better quarterback in the country."
I was multi tasking but was fortunate enough to to hear him check your boxes from that post. Miami (as a program and city) are often more sizzle than steak but I think THIS is different because Mario made these demands and used this leverage to bring us into big boy CFB. It was my main reason for wanting him over Lane. And with the budget he has for coaches and staff. We are implementing the Clemson model (plus taking their AD). It’s great to be…!!!!I missed it because my phone went in and out for a few moments, but someone told me he even included "PEOPLE" as infrastructure. Outstanding. It's all about the InfrastrUcture: we've got another once in a decade chance
I think the biggest thing left out of the upcoming coaching debate is "does any candidate impact fundamental infrastructure changes." What do I mean by infrastructure? It's almost another post altogether, but it includes all aspects of administration starting with a true leader at AD and...www.canesinsight.com
The post you reference, linked above, was partly written because a few boosters and people close to the program told me the University would go all in ($$$) for Mario. I know he "confirmed" yesterday, but Cribby wasn't lying. To some, this had been confirmed for about a week and discussed for some time. For the record, like many others, I have my concerns with Mario. Based on what he expressed, I'm confident he's aware of his past issues and areas of opportunity (for improvement). Whatever happens, at least we can sit and know all of this won't be fake (my biggest aggravation for years).
Mario hit on all of these and then some. He was fired up! Had me ready to suit up!Mario will address the Canes community shortly. In my mind, here's the optimal topics he'll discuss:
Touch on tradition and "return to greatness of 80s and 90s" talk, but emphasize this is a new college football landscape.
Too often, we hear how everything should be fixed by returning to what previously worked. College football is completely different than it was when we were last decent or even good. The problems are different now, so while Mario obviously comes from "the tradition," he's also been a coach in modern programs. NIL. Infrastructure support (this is NOT facilities necessarily). And, a wildly competitive landscape in recruiting/evaluation. Let's hope he's future focused.
Substance over hype. Repeat it.
This has been one of my biggest issues for years. I wrote a post about it two games into Manny's tenure:
My singular wish for this team and program going forward
Sick to my stomach. If anyone watched those last two games closely and thought we weren't capable of easily being 2-0, I don't know what to say. This is the first game since Golden's last season where I refuse to chart the defensive plays. Barely wanna talk about the plays that happened. I only...www.canesinsight.com
I don't care if Mario mentions the turnover chain and touchdown rings or not. I do care that he's already recognized one of the key things ailing this program: it's been fake. By almost every account, Mario, as a person and a coach, is not. He may not be an innovator or even an Xs and Os guy, but some specific talk about accountability in the program will be naturally great to hear. Put everyone - from staff to players - on explicit notice. He's had only hours to prepare, so I don't expect a state of the union. Just a plain, genuine statement about culture.
TIME TO GET TO WORK.
It would be a dream if his press conference were like 10 total minutes and he rudely got up and explained he has to get to work.
"They're not paying me to celebrate anything right now. I'm happy to be home, but there are recruits we need to connect with immediately. We'll talk soon."
