The Good Son?

That is not what this is about. This is about should the media reward this guy as some type of hero.

your post says nothing about the media being at fault; it's spinning the facts to make him appear as if he abandoned his mother. it's a weak, low blow.

and the media are always looking for human interest stories. TB's situation is just one more example. ****, i applaud any kid who makes it out of poverty, especially with the even worse circumstance of having a mother who battled cancer.

What facts did I spin? Please let me know.

I'm not suggesting you misstated facts, but you shaded the post as an attack on the player. Examples:

Title of the post: "The Good Son?" If this were an attack on the media, why no mention of the media?

Then you began the post by saying it was not about Ray Mancini; rather it was about a certain player (i.e. Teddy Bridgewater).

Then you repeatedly referenced said player and his sick mother.

There was no mention of the media anywhere in the post. And if you intended "Should people reward this tale?" to refer to the media, why not specifically say the media rather than unnamed people, which could just as easily be fans raving about TB?

You did suggest I misstated facts, I did no such thing. I also didn't spin any facts, I think everything I said was exactly from the BJ piece this morning. Please let me know.

I edited my post to include the media, I thought that was clear when I said "should we reward this tale?" Apparently it was not clear, the player was not gloating that he did these acts the media was.

I left out names because to remove personal biases, I was curious what people thought. I thought this piece was BS, left out a ton of "real information" and the piece is contradictory in of itself. So now people know it is Bridgewater.

I said you spun the facts, because that is exactly what you did, as reflected in the various examples I gave you. again, if you intended this as an indictment of the media then you should have said so, rather than bull**** characterizations such as "The Good Son" with a question mark. That was the opening salvo against the kid, and you kept going after him by saying the post was about a player, then kept referring to that player, and his sick mom.

In short, the word media was not in the title of your post, nor anywhere in the body. Conversely, references to the player were strewn throughout the post and title.

Our program was an absolute disaster. We lost to USF and then blown out by UVA in the last game in the revered Orange Bowl. Randy rightfully got fired, and we had no recruits. We were a mess. Just about anywhere would have been better by comparison. Charlie Strong is an outstanding coach and recruiter; they were on the rise. It was perfectly logical for TB to go there, and his career has certainly vindicated that decision.

Let's speak of only the facts....

In 2010, Louisville finished 7-6 (3-4) in the big east. In 2009, 4-8 (1-6) and 2008 5-7 (1-6). That is a three year record of 16-21 (5-16)

In 2010, Miami finished 7-6 (5-3) in the ACC. In 2009, 9-4 (5-3) and 2008 7-6 (4-4). That is a three year record of 23-16 (14-10).

Our academics are not comparable. U of L is a state public school with 50% more students then UM. UM is private and a much better school academically and athletically. UM is close to home, which can be a factor. Let's not forget that TB once was committed.

RS was fired and there was no evidence that U of L was on the RISE. They had a losing record in the Big Yeast 3 years straight (including Strong's first year) and there were no real signs they were on the rise. It is actually illogical to go there.

I agree that we were a mess but what relationship did he have with U of L prior to RS being fired. Probably none since he was committed to us. So RS gets fired and he bolts.

Please note the Scandal (Nevin-gate) did not break till August, 2011. So do not throw this into the situation. IMO, TB left for different reasons that had nothing to do with U of L on the rise. That is not the point here.

I get your point. The spin this is getting is to help his Heismen campaign. The inconsistancy in his decision to democmmit and then go somewhere far away is just ingnored. The press always spins the way they want. Would be easy to spin this from race aspect -- black kid dumps local school after it fires black HC and commmits to another black HC despite fact that his mother is sick. I am tired of all the personal backround crap use to incite piety, anger, pride or any other emotion. Kid does play good and it would have been nice to have him at THE U. Maybe he didn't like the way a lot of us treated J-12, or maybe he saw J -12 career go down tubes was leaving even if Randy stayed, or escpecially if Randy stayed. I have no idea why he changed and really don't care. He is NOT a CANE, and I only care about this here [[__]]. If he is on the field against us in a bowl game I want QAM and McCord to hi-low him countless times. If he is playing some other team, best of luck to him--unless we need Loserville to, well lose. He did beat the crap out of the gator and that always gets a couple stars from me, so thanks, Teddy.

Where is it written in stone that bridgewater HAD to stay close to his mom?

Maybe his mom told him to go to Ville...

You have zero clue what conversations went on between Teddy and his mom 3 years ago

Youre presenting this as the full story, when it is not.

Teddy made the best decision for him, a decision his mom was a big part of. She had ZERO issues signing that LOI did she?

This post is SMH stupid. Trying to spew some BS abt a kid off a half *** article that you read. SMH

1. He didn't. He could go to any school he wanted.

2. Maybe that is true, why not say it.

3. I have no clue, I only saw this BS piece this morning.

4. What part of the story am I missing? The story left out his recruitment. They made a big point about him wanting to be close to Mom. Just saying this was the focus about the story, his relationship with his mother.

5. That is fine. That is not what my post is about.

6. There is no article this was on sportcenter. SYH, somewhere else. My knock is on the media.

What facts? I want an example.

The Good Son is not a fact, that is my title for the post. That is my opinion, is it so clear he is a good son that the media claims. That is an opinion. That is not a fact, no fact was spun.

I have edited my post so let me know if it is better now.

Consigliere with more BS again, looking for an axe to grind. Let the media, such garbage as it is, run whatever they want. If you buy it then you buy it. This whole post just smacks of sour grapes. Try not to let the decisions of a bunch of teenage athletes ruin your day.

Oh the GrimQuiefer, how do you do?

What is the BS? I am speaking of the media, so learn to read. I am not speaking of Bridgewater's decision to go to UL in my original post. I was sick of hearing this BS campaigns by the media. I would have turned it off but I was shaving and the TV was on in the background.

Teenage athletes won't ruin my day, I am not Sandusky.

Yes, I think so.

Again, if his mom was healthy, he had no obligation to stay behind and not pursue his dreams.

Would I have done the same? Possibly not.

But there's nothing wrong in what he did.

This is not about him and his decision to leave for college. This is about the media and their story.

Louisville was clearly a better situation than UM at the time he committed. We were at our nadir, and are just coming out of it now.

Implying that he abandoned his sick mother is not only bull****, but a very weak attempt to impugne somebody who has had an unbelievably successful college career, and has positioned himself to be in the Hesiman race, and a first round draft pick. No one on a message board should be second guessing a decision he made, presumably with his "sick mother's" guidance.

Explain how they were clearly better?

Also, I am saying perhaps the media shouldn't suck his cack and fed this BS when if he really wanted to be close to home...he would have stayed close to home. Also, stop saying abandon...I said leave the nest.

So which is it? Are you attacking the media for the human interest story about TB or his decision to commit to Louisville?

Debating over the relative merits of Louisville v. UM in 2011 is immaterial. Your perception - or mine - of what is important in a college does not matter at all. as an example, you and others trot out that UM is top 50 in academics. Super, but most of the top level recruits have a far different perception of the relative merits of academics. if the academic rankings were important Stanford, Rice, Northwestern, etc.... would have the pick of the litter every year. Instead, we have Rhodes Scholar recruits -- like Myron Rolle -- claiming that FSU is a great academic school.

Also, for TB, playing for a black coach was an important factor in his decision. Frankly, i don't give a **** - nor does TB - about what you perceive to be the things he should have considered in picking a school. and why do you even care 3 years later?

What i care about, is you writing a post that paints the kid as "leaving the nest" where his poor mother remains ridden with cancer. That was an unbelievably low blow. But it only serves to make you look bad, certainly not TB.

Once you took this thread off topic, I responded. I explain this isn't about a rehash of his commitment.

Drifters,

Look at the first line of your original post. This is not what this was intended to be about. It was you who took it off topic. I meant to speak of the media and this piece. That is all. It was you who took it to a place not intended.

I want to get this thread back on topic if possible. Now that we have cleared up the media is my issue and not TB. Is that okay? If you want to start a new thread about TB's recruitment, so be it!
