The Fall of CanesTime

This site is so much better than the other site. Oddly, I would often notice that site had a lot more people logged in and viewing than this one on any given day but the posting was paltry and of inferior quality IMO. Glad to hear there are no plans to become affiliated with a service/sponsor.

It all depends on how they measure if someone is logged in since most people stayed logged in with cookies. Ours considers a users not logged in if they are not active in 15 minutes. I suspect some of the other sites is a lot higher when you look at stuff like pageviews and threadviews when evaluating traffic. I could make it look like we have 2000 logged and 4000 guest if I wanted to.

You guys that only posted on that **** *** free board have no clue just how far the site fell off. There's a lot of veterans here that can back me up on that.

The end of the Coker era destroyed the online Canes community forever. It has fractured and never recovered since. Maybe winning is the cure.

Amen tothat as Grassy himself forgot the posters who made his site good and turned it over to a kiddie corp with no knowledge of anything Canes related unless they read it somewhere. As soon as I saw that K9 was posting here I immediately came aboard as he lends credibility immediately.

There is really no incentive for us to join another network. We are fortunate enough to have a great team and a team with many different skill sets. CanesTime (scout) has a terrible site and substandard coverage. A matter of fact, I can't think of one advantage they have over us other than they are easy to find being attached to a network. We got great things planned in the future so I am pretty excited with our direction. The two things you can count on not changing are us ever joining a network and us never charging for content.

why does this scare the **** outta me ?

What's the situation on you guys getting press passes?

That's the only thing missing from otherwise great coverage: having to rip off updates from other sites and relying on Manny.

Andrew, again what you and your colleagues have done is amazing, you've done a great job. Graphics are clean and clear, the website is easy to navigate and the speed generally is excellent. It would be a huge mistake to lose your local content or format but keeping your options open can't hurt. One thing I miss is an active chat room, maybe publishing times could help?

There is a chat room. It's only been used a few times.

Re: the speed of the site, they're good at responding when the site bogs down for whatever reason, but big commitments cause this site to crash from big traffic spikes.

That's gotta get fixed.

What happened to Grassy is a shame. Just like what happened with Canesport. Ferman got ****ed that his posters knew more then him and he ran all the good ones off. Site over. Grassy stopped banning clowns that would purposely do **** to ruin threads and do stupid stuff. Site over. You guys hated DBC but I hated Sniffhoracane more. Dude was a freakin weirdo. He might have dropped knowledge from time to time but he picked fights in subtle ways. Once he got posters on his side that site was over.

Glad we have this site and CaneInsider I heard was not too bad. Thats all we got left. Lets keep this site free of the clowns that will purposely try to bring it down.

I still think DBC is here and has been for months, under another name. Probably doesn't skip his meds so he's more or less under control and doesn't annoy the way he used to.

Yeah the third person narrative was just way too much to handle. Him and DBC and a few others pushed me to leave. Also the site in general is a bunch of babies. I refused to be on the site game day because everyone just trashed the canes

I was a member of Scout and it seemed like Bakas waited until there was confirmation from 9 million independent sources before providing any information on recruiting or otherwise. I switched to Rivals and they seem to be okay. 247 seems to have some decent info. I have not joined yet, but fans of other teams say they like 247 the best. I like this site. I think, however, that this site needs to be taken in combination with one of the corporate sites to get the best of both worlds. As much as people hate Ferman here, he and Shodell do provide decent "news" and information on non-recruiting issues. They are not strong for recruiting and has seemed to take the same approach as Bakas re: requiring confirmation.

I don't see how they operate Canestime, there's nobody posting. I think this site, Canesinsight, is by far and away the best and it's easy to navigate with clear, clean graphics. Canesinsider is often slow and the graphics are too busy, too colorful for me, it seems like an extension of Harry's All Canes store. I subscribe to Canesports and 247 (Inside the U) and I think their decent but 247 definetly needs more content and better defined message boards. I also believe viable chat rooms will become important now that we're leaving the Randy Shannon Ice Age period. Certainly when the NCAA rules there's going to be a lot of traffic.
